  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With 200-1 odds against them, and ESPN calling them the "Jamaican Bobsled Team" of the World Baseball Classic, they did it again! After beating the host team South Korea (the #3 team in the world) in extra innings, Israel beat the #4 team in the world 15-7. They have a great shot to advance! Israel wins at World Baseball Classic again

I just read/heard something about Doctors in Israel coming up with a method to 'grow' new bones for humans based on that person's fat cells. Still in the early stages from what I understand, but successful in limited use. Amazing!

Not to mention the national success of Israel in the region.

Why?

I remember my dad being undone when Canada had 2 MLB teams (Montreal Expos and Toronto Bluejays) meaning that a non-US team might win the World Series. To him that was unthinkable. But it happened twice: Toronto won the Series in 92 and 93.

Is the US even involved in that competition?

Why what? What don't I think they will win it all? I think they could, with only 16 teams in this field (and yes, the US is in it and ranked #2 behind Japan) and having beaten #3 Korea and #4 Taiwan (15-7) anything is possible. Still... they came in with 200-1 odds against them, the highest in the field, and they were ranked 41st in the world behind baseball powers Poland and Ukraine. :) I am jacked up about them and want a cap real bad!!! :)

Why is the rest of the world interested in US baseball?
I don't know... I would rather see Israel win. This thread (and the article in the OP) is about Israel, not the US.

Thanx , I didn't even know they had a team ..
ESPN called them, "The Jamaican Bobsled Team of International Baseball." :) But... they are among the final 8 so pretty cool!
