In the second world war there was a thought that an aircraft carrier ship was a mobile island air base but its weakness was that it was sinkable. In debates some treat each position as if it were an aircraft carrier if they are willing to abandon ship but when they are not each position is an island airbase from which to launch attacks against the opposing island.
One such set of islands of war is "sola scriptura" and its opponent "holy tradition". Neither island will surrender and the attacks of the opponent have almost no effect. The war is old now but it still rages on.
Catholic and Orthodox versus others. Will it ever end?
