I have been a pro wrestling fan all of my life. I know it is violent and there is some misogyny and secular music that always playing. I watch it because it is fun to watch. I know that is it a sporting event in which the outcomes are predetermined. I have even heard of a Christian wrestling organization. I guess it is possible to be with a Christian and be a pro wrestler. My question is, is it a sin to watch pro wrestling? If so, how do I outgrow it and repent of watching things on tv (like soap operas) or watching movies that I should not watch?

Yes, and you are already aware of what is wrong with it. That was easy. :)

Just quit watching it. If you can't turn it off, get rid of your television. We did in 2000, haven't missed it yet.

This is a low level of a life lived according to feeling. What I'm talking about is a life of feeling vs. a life of faith. And I don't mean low in the sense of low morally, but low in the sense of slightly. A very high level of life of feeling is for instance, viewing sensuous material or shows; porn is higher still.

There's something about wrestling that appeals to you. Because it's in the very low category, you don't have a strong objection in your spirit to it, but it does cause questions to arise regarding it in your heart.

The trick is to find other things that are just as fulfilling on the same low level. The chemicals that bring pleasure, or excitement, and fulfillment in our bodies are dopamine and oxytocin. Dopamine is involved in porn for instance, or drugs, or alcohol, and oxytocin is involved in companionship, sitting on the beach with someone you love, taking a walk and talking to them, maybe even a Bible study with them, reading a book. These can be very fulfilling, and so can TV shows. Feelings of enjoyment are fine, but I think you're discovering that what you want is enjoyment feelings that are in keeping with your Christian faith. I would recommend finding other means of enjoyment (or shows) that still bring that satisfying feeling of enjoyment without violating your conscience.

Blessings,
H

All I can say is for anyone to tell you its a sin they would be a hypocrite if they even own a T.V....

The fact of the matter is it isn't a sin to watch t.v. what is a sin is to lust, idolize, envy, things of that nature are sin. so if you can honestly watch wrestling without it causing you to actually commit sin in your heart, then there is nothing wrong. Its something that you would have to choose for yourself weather or not your strong enough to watch and if not you could try and turn the more explicit parts of the show or what have you...

I wouldn't say it's a sin, but pro wrestling has really gone downhill in recent years. I caught WWF Raw every Monday in the 90's, but it's hardly worth the time now.
Or it could be because you're not 12 anymore, too.

Are you being convicted of it?

No doubt there are better things to watch.

What so ever is not of faith is sin even things like eating and drinking. So in the case where we have no clear command and the thing you are seeking to do if it cannot be done without doubting it is sin for you.
Romans 14:22,23
The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.
But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

Remember that wrestling is the first sport that is mentioned in the bible. Jacob wrestled an angel all night. After losing the contest, the angel said "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel." So, you can be sure that wrestling is one sport that is played in heaven. However, I'm sure its not the fake stuff you see on TV. My guess is that they wrestle greco-roman. At least I hope!
