If you are not afraid please put up your photo. Let me see..Lol. I don't know IF you are white or black...BUT I BELIEVE YOU ARE WHITE.
and what does the color of my skin matter, it is the content of the words and character that you should look at..as Martin said...

'where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

I'll give you my take on those verses but I am sure you will discount them because of the color of my skin...

All those verses cited can be reasoned with the same premise... political will. When sister White wrote those comments, their was still a strong, unchanged view by those in the south regarding blacks. To encourage the blacks to push for a change would invite more misery and suffering upon them than they were already facing... do you not think the 'good ol' boys' would have been burning Adventist churches to the ground if the blacks were pushing for equality in a place that equality wasn't ready to be had? To push the issue through the church would have met with fierce political and congregational opposition that would have, as sister White said, taken away from the work of proclaiming the truth. In the south and possibly throughout all America, a great majority would have viewed Adventists as trouble makers... hardly a beacon call. Never did sister White advocate for us to be agitators... even when the Sunday law is in place, we are told to not defiantly bring upon ourselves persecution.

TRUTH. Jesus is the WAY and the TRUTH John 14:6

To push the issue through the church would have met with fierce political and congregational opposition that would have, as sister White said, taken away from the work of proclaiming the truth.

What did the Apostles do when they found themselves against the opposItion of the Jews. Acts 5: 29 They boldly proclaim that the should obey God rather than man. E.G. White did not want to upset the status quo.

Adventists in Nazi Germany - The Confessing Seventh-day Adventist

This seems to be a characteristic of some of the SDA churches...being afraid to take a stand for what is right and good.

I am done with this topic. Have a blessed week.

Aren't you doing a wonderful work in uniting the brethren... why stay an Adventist if it is so rotten? Or if you feel that we are to stay no matter the apostacy, then why gripe and moan about it? Do as we are told to and pray for the leadership, pray for the wayward brethren... or find something better if you can.

Why stay an Adventist..maybe that is the problem. I am a Christian.

Acts 11:19-26 Please read this carefully. Believers in Jesus were called CHRISTIANS not SDA. The problem is that you cannot see the forest for the trees. In Elisha's time he ran away thinking he was the only one who was not apostacising. God told him that there were 750 who did NOT BOW TO BAAL. Remember the church is a BODY OF BELIEVERS not a SDA church building. Therein lies your faulty reasoning. I promised that I would end this topic...and believe you me...this is the END. I really mean it.

By the way I am wondering if you had a choice between denying Christ's name and denying that E.G. White was a prophet which would you choose. Think on it.
MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE BUT JESUS CHRIST THE SOLID ROCK.
Hope you have a good week.

That's the problem--take everything that is said out of context, do not look at the prevailing way of thinking at the time. So when Paul is stating that slaves should mind their masters and work for them as to the Lord, was he practicing racism? The time had not come to free the slaves yet--man's hearts need to be changed first in order for there to be civil changes. EGW supported the underground railroad and urged others to do the same, which meant she was inciting others to commit a crime. Racism does cut both ways. I had a rock thrown at me by a black boy, his mother stood right beside him--she did nothing. I had done nothing, he threw it because I was white--it did not make me change my feelings about blacks--having been raised partly by a black family when in Costa Rica, I have never had a problem in that area. What I want to know is---Has anyone asked the black conference leaders why they do not want to be joined together with the whites?? Why does everybody assume that this is something the whites want when it's been the blacks that have chosen it?? Are they racist?? No more so than the Spanish speaking who built their own churches and have their own meetings--many people just plain prefer to be with their own race, language. They feel more connected and can understand what is being said. But if you go to the so called "white conferences"--you will see a lot of all colors--not just white.
It's not a question of refusing to see error in the church, it's a matter of refusing to see error in those who are making untrue or one sided remarks. A 16 year old Haitian girl and I became very close at church. She was like a daughter, I a second mother to her--she invited me and my husband to a party---we were the only white people there. Didn't bother anyone. She is not racist, she was just having a family thing. Now, when the President of the whole SDA church was black--how could you say that the conferences were racist????

Have you actually read what is in the Bible, this part where Christ tells us...
John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:35
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

John 15:17
These things I command you, that ye love one another.

I dont see where is says 'except if the color of their skin is white, or black, or red, or they speak spanish or chinese or lithuanian'
You need to read your Bible and look at what you are presenting to others. Here are more verses which show that these words for us from Jesus and the meaning was understood clearly by the discples and given great importance...

Romans 12:10
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Romans 13:8
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Galatians 5:13
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Ephesians 4:2
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

1 Thessalonians 3:12
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

1 Thessalonians 4:9
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

1 Peter 1:22
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1 Peter 3:8
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1 John 3:11
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1 John 3:23
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:11
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

18.1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Gods children cant just pick and choose who they love or accept depending on how they look or speak or where they come from, as a child of God we need to understand and bring all of what Christ tells us in His word, not just a part here or there and ignore the rest...

Well, the only thing that comes to my ming, why 'colored people' shouldnt be leaders (at least in her times,) is that the american society wouldnt accept black leaders and the whole cause of proclaiming the message would be endangered...

Personally I must say that I dont really know the right or wrong in this scenario...

On the one hand it sounds like a pretty secular strategy, dont do this because some worldlings might otherwise not join you or cause you trouble...

on the other hand it is the Lords business and if somebody doesnt wanna join you because of his or her racist world view, well, then let him die in his racist misery and dont even bother....

Honestly I dont know...

Christianity seems to me like Love and Unity, without boundaries... like race and stuff...

but maybe there is something to it...

just btw, I have never really thought too much about masters and slaves int he good old apostle paul days....

could someone enlighten me about the situation? was it like christian masters and their christian slaves?

or was it like christian slaves and secular masters, secular slaves and christian masters?

probably its impossible to know what it was, but still...

cause if it was like christian masters having christian slaves, then indeed it was weird..., I mean how can you love your slave without setting him free?

When you live in a time where Black men are seen as less than human, why would you put them in a position of authority over men would disrespect them because of that. She said there were reasons why this had to be. To try to make it more than that is to try to find an issue where there is none.

I just find it a bit curious that anyone who would say they are obstensibly against bigotry and racism, turn around and say you are to be disregarded because of your skin color.....makes me turn every color under the sun when I see or hear that......:o

I know distinctly what prejudice is and dont tolerated it on any level....

Are we still talking about Sr White?

I don't think she was trying to be racist at all in her writings. I believe she was dealing accordingly with the current situation. Had she lived during this time, and made such statements, than I would have some questions for her.

No, just being told you are 'white or black' or any color so step aside. I experienced that when I was young and from that day it lights me up for anyone to tell me that.........

Oh, yeah, that. I wasn't quite sure how that had any bearing on the validity of your statements, and did seem to be contradictory to the OP.

Need to find my 'chill pills'.........

Understood.
