I attended the yesterday's afternoon session of AY at my SDA local church.
The moderate asked a question for discussion.
Do you think that someone can love their spouse as Christ loved the Church?

People gave their imput. I mentioned that a few years ago a group of women appeared on our local TV who had suffered from cancer. The interviewer wanted their imput on how they dealt with it. One lady mentioned that after having one of her breast removed her HUSBAND LEFT HER.

I was shocked at two comments from my Christian brethren at the church. Both of them said that "men cannot deal with such things" and furthermore they might have had other problems, so there could be other reasons why he left her.

What annoyed me was one of them a woman said. 'IF I WERE THE MAN I WOULD LEFT HER TOO! I asked her, would you like your husband to leave you if you were in her position.

The whole issue of whether there were other problems is irrevelant.
Where is the love. I also asked if he had one of his legs amputed I am quite sure he would want her to remain with him. Sometimes I think that women are their worst enemies. I can't seem to get over their statements. What would one constitute as love.

I will come back later for your comments. I am going to finish cook my Sunday meal. Hope you all are have a good day.

I don't understand where they were coming from. What they were saying seems rather odd.

On the other hand, every church has folks who talk often but don't represent the views of the church.

Sounds like something a man from Afghanistan would do. It's not love it's power and control which are traits found in selfish people.

No, that is not love and you have to wonder if their marriages are based on lust. Not too long ago a man in his 50s at a church I used to attend had a wife with cancer. He took leave from work so he could nurse her until she died. That's love.
