  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is this for real?

Ok. Again, was something physically wrong?

In the video I've seen, it looks like it might've hurt him a little bit so he responded angrily. I'm not defending him at all, but I also think we're kind of chirping about it because it's Francis. Someone said this woman was trying to tell the Holy Father about some oppression in her country or something, I don't know, maybe she's from China or Vietnam. I think she could just as easily be an arrogant tourist who isn't even Catholic and has no respect or reverence for the Papacy.

I really don't like either side of that exchange. Her action or his reaction.

It was just unfortunate any way you look at it.

It's neither here nor there with regard to the mess pope Francis has already made. Unfortunate, but not substantial, except for the indication that he has trouble keeping his well known temper controlled.
