Theistic scientists are not motivated by any need to "explain God out of the picture". They are motivated by the evidence for evolution, and they explicitly reject an atheistic interpretation of Darwin's theory.

God doesn't even get credit as designer but he can guide the process if he uses only naturalistic means. I do give God credit for the molecular mechanisms responsible for adaptive radiation on an evolutionary scale. I just don't attribute to the creature what is rightfully attributed to the creator.You are the one who won't give God credit for evolution.

We no more need to explain away God to escape Hell than you need to explain away Santa Claus to prevent coal from appearing in your Christmas stocking.

I have long since given up be being amazed at what home schooling can do for Americans.
And on the other side of that coin. Many so-called believers who choose not to believe in the Bible as it is written, along with bitter Atheists who have the need to make God disappear so they don't have the thought of Hell looming, all have a great tendency to try to explain God out of the picture.
