all that the Father doth give to me will come unto me; and him who is coming unto me, I may in no wise cast without, because I have come down out of the heaven, not that I may do my will, but the will of Him who sent me. `And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that all that He hath given to me I may not lose of it, but may raise it up in the last day;and this is the will of Him who sent me, that every one who is beholding the Son, and is believing in him, may have life age-during, and I will raise him up in the last day.' The Jews, therefore, were murmuring at him, because he said, `I am the bread that came down out of the heaven;'and they said, `Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then saith this one -- Out of the heaven I have come down?' Jesus answered, therefore, and said to them, `Murmur not one with another; no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day; it is having been written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God; every one therefore who heard from the Father, and learned, cometh to me;"(John 6:37-45 YLT)
`Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, also in me believe; in the house of my Father are many mansions; and if not, I would have told you; I go on to prepare a place for you; and if I go on and prepare for you a place, again do I come, and will receive you unto myself, that where I am ye also may be; and whither I go away ye have known, and the way ye have known.' Thomas saith to him, `Sir, we have not known whither thou goest away, and how are we able to know the way?'Jesus saith to him, `I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me;"(John 14:1-6 YLT)
"Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man -- every one who is judging -- for in that in which thou dost judge the other, thyself thou dost condemn, for the same things thou dost practise who art judging, and we have known that the judgment of God is according to truth, upon those practising such things. And dost thou think this, O man, who art judging those who such things are practising, and art doing them, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, dost thou despise? -- not knowing that the goodness of God doth lead thee to reformation!"(Romans 2:1-4 YLT)
Thank You very much for the selected quotes convicted1.
I consider myself a seed which fell by the wayside without understanding and fell back to my old ways. And after 10 years of this I have an overpowering desire of repentance and to actually read the bible and walk as the book says. I have this feeling that no matter how I feel in my heart that this is the only way and to just trust the Lord.
I have much understanding yet to learn but thanks again.
p.s. I would assume that nobody would have a desire to repent if it weren't for the Holy Ghost?
We all would do just that. We who would encourage you in what is right are conscience of the infirmity of the human flesh, and the inability in ourselves. All the sincere followers of God would seek to help with an understanding of their own need before the LORD. It is not in a haughty manner of telling others what to do, but a realization of where each of us stand before the Holy God.Convicted1 and all who have replied so far to help me. I found this passage and it is clearly reflects my situation and the people that are trying to help.
"Galatians 6:1 - Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted."
Do you think Jesus would erect a roadblock after a certain number of sins in the man's life and say, "Whoa! Sorry. That's just too much sin for Me to cover with My blood!"The question is now how does one know that he is responding to the Spirit to go to heaven and not that of himself?
If Jesus died once which he did and His blood is for us to use once to cover all sins, then what blood is left for the man who continues to sin willingly?
And when that man has become so distraught and hopeless feeling and tries to redo his coming to Christ I do fear that man might be the one at the wedding with the wrong clothes.

Sorry, Jay, that's ridiculous.Jonah 3, NASBMight as well have said "the 498th time ... " God's response to repentance is always the same.
1 Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time ...

All sins have been covered by Christ's shed blood...past, present, AND future. If someone lives another 20 years from now, their future sins are already covered. Yet, that doesn't negate our responsibilty to repent of our sins we commit.
Mind telling where you find this nonsense in the Bible, please? A hint: Don't quote anything from 1 John, Hebrews 6 or any other passage typically cited (and totally misunderstood) by those who believe as you apparently do. It will simply prove you don't understand those passages. When you walk in darkness (willful sinning/sin of planning) and practice sin..not just stumble in it...then you have NO sacrifice for your sins. You are an enemy of God at that point.
Do you actually know what Paul meant when he wrote those words, or are you just mimicking what you've been told? Each one must work out his own salvation...profusely!
Actually, I can say. If his confession of Christ as Savior and Lord was true and acceptable to God, he forfeits nothing when he sins, other than his dignity as a Christian and the full realization of the power that is his in Christ.Jayblue has found himself in a dire situation. Whether his relationship with God is forfeited or not is not for me or anyone to say.
Wait a minute. Didn't you just say it is "not for me or anyone else to say"? But yet, you said. His own mouth will condemn him. Repent or perish.
Perhaps you can explain how something you had nothing to do with acquiring is now only in your possession to keep or reject?Only God knows when one's faith and conscience no longer has the fortitude and faith to continue ...
The only thing "dire" around here is people who think salvation is theirs to acquire or lose. You had nothing to do with "getting saved," and you can't do anything to "get unsaved." Otherwise, Christ is a terribly weak Savior.then they will begin to speak their heart....doubt...loss....regret...all things except faith in Christ and his blood. At that point...for that person...it's dire.
Actually....when you walk in the light as Christ is in the the Light you have fellowship one with another (God and saints in Christ) and the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin. 1 John 1:7
