  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the fourth commandment done away with? (Moved)

And these two statement should be saying the same thing.. He is the covenant, you will find rest in Him, His Sabbath is your sign of the covenant with Him and you will rest on His Sabbath... since He is not only Lord of the Sabbath, but your Lord.

Therefore, since I am "in" Him, He is my rest.

Not some day, but He is my rest.

He is my righteousness.

Because I am in Him, His presence goes with me and gives me rest!

Now, if you chose to be under the Law of Moses, then you need to keep the sabbath!

Yeshua said He is Lord of the Sabbath, He is your Lord... reflect that.

Christ said that as long as heaven and earth exist, the law would not pass until it was fulfilled/accomplished.
(It will pass, no matter what, in eternity where it is not needed.)
The shadows which were the ceremonial laws have been fulfilled in Christ's person, and
the moral laws have been accomplished in his perfect obedience to them.

In addition, the Son's revelation (Heb 1:1-2) states that the priesthood of Aaron, on which the law was based (Heb 7:11),
has been changed to the priesthood of Melchizedek (Heb 7:11), in fulfillment of Ps 110:4,
with Christ as its new and eternal high priest (Heb 7:17-20).
And because the priesthood has been changed, the law based on it must also change (Heb 7:12),
to the law of Christ, which is the law of God (1Co 9:21; Gal 6:2), and which is love (Jas 2:8; Ro 13:8-10)
that upholds the law of Moses (Ro 3:31), minus its curse (Dt 27:26).

Therefore, because the law of Moses has been fulfilled/accomplished and
because the priesthood on which it was based has been changed,
the Mosaic law has been set aside (Heb 7:18) and changed to the law of Christ,
which upholds the law of Moses, minus its curse.

That is the revelation of the Son (Heb 1:1-2) in the NT Word of God.

The fall feasts were not fulfilled with His first coming, but they will with His second coming.... a shadow of things to come but the body is of Christ.

Do you have a Biblical basis for that?
On what basis do you split things "to come," into things that "have come" and things yet "to come?"

What do you mean by "the body is of Christ"?

The righteous requirement of the fourth commandment was fulfilled in Christ.

Now that we are in Christ, it it fulfilled in us who do not walk after the flesh [the fleshly commandments of the Law of Moses] but after the Spirit!

But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

Should Christians keep the seventh day Sabbath holy?
NO! The Christian is not obligated to the sabbath or the rest of the law.
Are we being deceived by not remembering the Sabbath?
NO!! This does not refer to the 10 Cs. It refers to the commandments Jesus issued. No where did Jesus enjoin us to keep the sabbath or the law.
Two, God will write His law on our hearts.
Yes that is true. God did not say He would write the covenant made with their fathers on our heart.

31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
We know from Scripture that keeping of the Ten Commandments saves no one, but rather, they point out our need for a Savior. It's God's grace that saves us.

This says nothing about puting or moving the covenant into the heart. Please pay attention to the blue highlighted above. The covenant made with the COI is the ten commandments - 13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. Deut 4

To whom was this covenant given? 3 The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. Deut 5 This is 430 years after Abraham who did not have this covenant - Gal 3:17 according to Moses.
This tells me that we don't keep the commandmends to get saved, but rather, once we are saved we will keep them because we love God and neighbor.
No so. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. John 15
Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!

Shall we break the law of God because we are now saved?
Notice what your verse says? It says sin it does not say violate the law. 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Rom 5 Sin is not always the violation of the law. ...for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Faith is not part of the law.
God tells us that the keeping of the law is motivated by love for God and love for neighbor.
Where is this? Yes and Jesus did not quote one of the 10 Cs and therefore the 10 Cs has no more value than the rest of the law.
How we love God and neighbor is defined in the Ten Commandments.

The first four teach us what pleases God and the last six teaches us what will please others.

How does God write these two aspects of the law on our hearts.
I want to know in light of the above from Jeremiah. IOW there is no consequences of violating the law or the 10 Cs. Is this not the same as cheap grace?
Ephesians 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
What is the will of God according to the NC? Reads like you are using 2 different senarios in the illustration. Looks like you move from a hired servant to a wife to me. Some one doing things out of love is not a hired servant.
If someone asked me why I was keeping the Sabbath, since we are no longer under the law but under grace, I wound have to say, because I love Him.
I wonder if this is really the hard truth. Yes I question this because of my personal knowledge of the SDA religion. I further more do not believe you keep the sabbath as outlined even in the 10Cs.
The Ten Commandments have not been done away with, we just have a different relationship to them now. They go from being written on stone to being written on our heart through freedom and love.
Again this is not so. See above discussion. Listen to the whole context of Eph 6:1-2. Paul here is not talking to children not Christians. If Paul was telling Christians to keep the law he would not be able to say thing like found in Romans 7:6; 10:4 or Gal 5:4, 18. Again context is everything. First the Scripture plain states no one has ever kept the law - Ps 14:3; 53:3; Rom 3:23.

And secondly Jesus is giving a fool's answer to a fool. Yes Jesus is making fun of him.

Thirdly if the above quote was not a tongue-in-cheek statement why did the young man leave sorrowfully knowing he did not have eternal life (salvation)? And lastly Jesus did not contradict his testimony about keeping the law. Context once again is important here. Who is Jesus talking to? What are their habits and customs? Why do they even have such customs? Reading Acts we see they did not give up the law very willingly.
Jesus even said He was Lord of the Sabbath and how the Sabbath was made for man.
Back to context yet again. Jesus did not say the sabbath was given to all man kind.
These are not words that do away with the law or the Sabbath, but rather, confirm the Sabbath and the law.
Of course not. You would not ever present something contradictory to what you believe.
What are your thoughts?
You have them above.

It is and now there are no longer any requirements to continue fullfilling the contract. It has been done.
