  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The death sentence is, in my opinion correct, though it should only be given under extreme conditions. Some conditions would be: that Peterson guy killing his wife and an unborn fetus, and what about that baby theif Montgomery? She strangled a pregnant woman and cut open her womb, stole her baby and left her to die.

and i accidently put yes but i meant no (cos you twisted the poll a bit)

i think the DS is wrong. I think people should have to think for the rest of their lives what they did wrong (behind bars). since DS is based for murderers and is just an easy way out for them.

I also think we have no right to kill others like that.

further more - in the UK a lot of people want it back, i mean what if we accidently kill somebody innocent? (in US, UK and other countries).

I believe the death penalty should be applied when it can be used with perfect consistency and when guilt can be established to a very stringlently high degree of certainty - with DNA testing that becomes oncreasingly more possible. I do not believe that we have used it properly so far in human history.

And for those of you who don't agree with the death penalty, what do you think should be done to these people? People who take great people from their loving familes, do you think just being put in jail is punishment enough for these people?
I am not at all interested in punishment.

Death sentances are wrong on the grounds that the State has no fundumental right to take a life. Revenge isn't a virtue nor is it something anyone should insist on being a power of the State. If tyrannical regimes are any example of revenge out of control then I suggest we make note of this specifically.

don't think there is much need for the death penalty any longer.... lock the door, throw away the key..... better punishment anyway...

yea, they'll get to learn from their mistake, but are never able to reintegrate into society. in my opinion something like that should only be used if it is obvious that the person isn't going to learn from the mistake, but sadly that isnt necessarily the case for many.

Even with DNA you can make mistakes...

But even if they are guilty... is not our sake to punish. We should lock them away so they can't hurt others, but if we should "punish" the criminals then why don't we just reinstate torture?

Death sentence IS wrong. The state has no right to decide who will live and who won't.

Nothing should be done. Since they have commited an act of hatred, that hatred shall return to them threefold.

I disagree with the death penalty. How are we going to solve the world's problems by killing everybody? I mean, yes, murder is a terrible crime, but it's not something we can justify with more murder!
