You can answer your question by answering the following questions...
Do you think that the crucifix is God? (if no, then ok. If Yes, then problem)
Do you intend to worship the crucifix? (if no, then ok. If yes, then problem)
Lastly, the most tricky question...
Do you put the crucifix out of it's proper place, by putting it above things it should not be above? For example, would you put your respect for the crucifix above caring for another person? (if no, then ok. If yes, then problem)
Worship is an intentional act of will... you generally can't do it accidentally.
