Is sex wrong?

What were they taking the virgins for? Sex, of course. Were they going to marry these virgins? If sex is so bad, why is Moses of all people telling his followers to take the virgins for themselves?

I see nothing wrong with sex between two people in a committed relationship. To me it is a sign that they love each other.

The only sex approved of by God is heterosexual and within marriage. Sodomite/lesbian "Sex" is always unnatural and immoral. The Bible says homosexuality is the offspring of a depraved mind, and I believe it.

The reason they spared the virgins was because they were innocent. The virgins took no part in the perverse sex-religion practices of the Canaanites since the religions were based around sex and quite naturally, a virgin is one that has not had sex. In other words: God spared them because they were innocent. The Israelites may have married them, but that does not mean they abused them. If they had, God would have punished them severely.

You can think that all you want. Of course you can't actually show how I'm "depraved" and how being committed to the one I love is so wrong.

There is nothing wrong with loving someone. However, God specifically says that homosexuality is wrong and immoral. God's the one that says that, and no matter how much one homosexual loves another, it's still wrong and you are being deceived. God's not against love, he's against the perversion of love.

All we know is that some Jewish guys said that God said those things a long time ago. They said that God said lots of other things as well. They said that God said you should kill homosexuals too. Do you think God said that? They said God said you should kill your unruly son. Do you think God said that?

The problem is that all of this smacks in the face of the most basic tenet of the Christian religion.

God is Love.

If you have love in your heart then you simply cannot go wrong. Love is what Christianity is all about. It's the whole point of Jesus. God showed us that no matter what we did, that he loved us so much that he would give his only son to show his love. Love is the foundation on which the whole faith is built upon. I think people forget that. We don't know what God says about any sexuality. If you are a Christian, though, you know about how God feels about love, or at least you should.

As I understand it, the first time you have sex with someone and become one body you become bound. You must marry that person, or, perhaps you are already married... I'm not sure that the Bible is very clear.

Sex is not wrong, sex is a good thing. new beings are created this way. but in my veiws sex outside marriage is a sin (#yes i'm one of those bible bashers who believe that#)
If you partake in this all the time then it won't be so special when you get together with the person you marry.

It was not a human creation. Sex is pleasurable, and why would God create some thing that feels good to be evil. I know some may say that sex is only for making babies. Which I will have to agree, however then again sex is one of the best feelings a person can have, and how can a feeling so good be a sin. When I have having sex with my GF I do not feel that it is a sin, it is an act of love I share with her…..I am wrong?

I belive the point here is literalism vs contexualization.
I belive that as crabs were forbidden because they were very dangerous at the time, pre-marital sex was forbidden for pratical reasons: a woman was considered an object to be exchanged between father and husband, there was no birth control, there was the need to make sure that children were the husband's etc...
I belive that as long as there is consent and nobody gets hurt, sex is fine.

In my opinion, as long as two knowledgeable, consenting adults want to have sex, then thats fine. I view sex as a very healthy and spiritual thing, and can find no problem with it. Granted, I'm engaged and will only consider being sexual with him, I don't see why it would be wrong for others. Just my two cents.

I think that as long as you know the risks of sex, and you truly do love your girlfriend and she loves you, then you're doing nothing wrong. Sex can make or break a relationship, and honestly it only strengthened mine. Just make sure you're ready for a kid if something does happen.

The idea behind sinful sex outside marriage is quite simple. Uncommitted sex can possibly lead to unwanted children. And who is the loser when two people have an unwanted child? The child.

My view on sex before marriage is quite basic. Marriage is both a religious rite, as well as a social one. I don't believe a person need have a public ceremony for either religious or social purposes in order to have non-sinful sex. God knows what is in our hearts. If you have sex with someone then you need to be in the mindset of commitment. That is one of the basic tenants of marriage, and for good reason.

Well sex today is still risky behavior even though it is far more safe than it once was, however what in life comes without its risks? Even sitting here in my chair there are risks all around me that could take my life at any second. Shall that cause me to not sit down? Certainly not. As with all things risk can be managed to a point of reasonableness. Obviously the number of sexual partners you have in one life time is one of the most influential variables in how risky sex is for an individual in terms of catching a disease.

If sex is evil, then I have a hard time believing God is good. Why would a good God set our only means of survival as a certain evil? I believe that early church figures believed the world was going to end within their life times, so they saw no point in having intercourse. But seeing as 2000 years later we are still kicking celibacy appears to be a creation of humankind rather than God.

First, fornication is sex before marriage.

Second, the bible is not clear on the subject.

Third, even if the bible is clear there were vast cultural differences, even Paul shared a view of marriage being out of neccessity not love.

Fourth, I think it's ridiculous that Christians use words that actually make it sound like a sin. It's like they're not sure themselves so they have to make it sound bad to believe it is.

I don't believe sex is a sin. I believe its a gift from God to be celebrated responsibly. Personally, I think that when He created man He didn't have marriage in mind.
