CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Santa Claus... why did you pick the username Santa Claus? Not that there is anything wrong with it... but I noticed that your topics are all to do with Santa Claus... Well, I guess Christmas is coming up now, and a lot of people associate Santa Claus with Christmas... is that what it is (?)

I'm not a fan of Santa Claus because I think it distracts from Christmas being about the birth of Christ.
However...
Santa does not come from Satan. It means "saint" as in St. Nicholas.
Santa means saint in Spanish (ie. the Santa Maria, one of the ships that first came over to the New World).

Yeah, it's something my husband and I have been contemplating lately.
Not that we're having kids anytime soon. But when we do, I don't want them to think Santa is real. My hubby sees Santa as harmless and something fun for the kids.
I'm curious about what other people grew up with or what they do with their own children.

when I was growing up, my parents didn't talk about who Santa was, you just knew who Santa was because of cartoons and all the free publicity he gets from advertising etc. But from the beginning I also knew that Santa is not real (also because I saw my mum buy me all the presents ). It has a lot to do with what the parents teach their children.

I believe it is but not always. I think that it definately did not start that way but the message now is works based and takes focus off Christ. I have heard of Crhstian families who tell their kids that their was a Santa (st. Nick) but he is dead now and all that Santa is now is a decoration. That seems like a good way of putting it but the wqay santa is usually done is works based and taking focus off Christ.

Santa=Satan I don't know it's seems kinda ironic to me. I think it's just a clever tool that the enemy uses to take away from the true meaning of Christmas.
It is hard at Christmas time, Santa is everywhere, my 3 year old talks about Santa and what do you say? I'll wait til next year and tell her Santa isn't real.

He is getting a lot of "worship" during this season and taking away a lot of the attention from Jesus. It is interesting that he has a red coat, which is the colour of blood.
