Please do the pill and please tell us what praise means to you.

And is praising in church a sign of maturity?

And please share scripture.
I once stayed with a ministry that had a specific kind of school. The man who led this had an attitude of praise that was constant throughout the day from what I could tell. I had never seen anything like it. Praise is an attitude of gratitude. It can be a sacrifice. I suppose worship is more intimate and deeper but praise can occur more frequently for just about anything and is close to worship.
Heb 13:15-16, By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

I have lived my life with little to be thankful for. Things have not turned out as well as I might have wanted and I may have been negative.

It is also easier to express joy and gratitude in the moment, and also very difficult to remember it afterwards when facing a new challenge.

May the Lord bring our pride low and open our eyes to the ways that He has provided for us so that we may express proper gratitude.

Thank you.

I suppose worship can be a kind of praise.

And we are praising God by trusting Him.
Heb 13:15-16, By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
So, thanking can be praising.

Well, we have people to love.

Yes . . . *w-e* can be negative.
It is also easier to express joy and gratitude in the moment, and also very difficult to remember it afterwards when facing a new challenge.

May the Lord bring our pride low and open our eyes to the ways that He has provided for us so that we may express proper gratitude.
Amen . . . thanks.

I agree that there are many ways to praise and worship.

I personally believe that one of the best markers of growing maturity is actually becoming more childlike - as in releasing self-awareness and just being awed in God's presence - however expressed.

I've seen both unrestrained joy and quiet profound tears of gratitude shed while our congregation sings. I've seen an 81 yr old elder - who stands stoically during the main service - but whose eyes light up in delight when he and a 77 yr old elder get cranking in sharing Scriptural insight and personal testimony in our intimate men's group. I've heard and seen the dear maid at my Apt. complex singing worship music at the top of her lungs while cleaning the windows...

And maybe the greatest form of praise there is - just being silent and knowing that He is God.

And thereby being inspired to go love as we are loved. To be kind to the least according to the world. A friend to the friendless. Sharing the hope that is within us. That's worship and praise, isn't it?

S'all good!

Philippians 4:4 KJV

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice."

So - - - praise matures as we mature in God's way of loving. And this way is Jesus maturing in us.

As we grow in Jesus, we grow in praising God by being pleasing to Him like Jesus is.

"rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:4)

By being gentle and quiet in God's love, this is praising Him.
