  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Maybe what they meaning is this...questioning God too much could show distrust in His leading...tiz also disrespectful and prideful to constantly natter at a superior...someone who has more wisdom, knowledge, and experience than you. Tiz like saying you know better than they. With God Most High, obviously He knows allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll and is most trustworthy! :D If a soldier was always in the face of his commander questioning his every move and asking every 5 minutes do you really know what you are doing? The commander would then have to start questioning the soldier about their wavering faith in their superior and wonder what they so fearful about.

You can certainly ask God questions. Tho do so humbly and reverently and obediently. ;)

TRUST AND OBEY! THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO BE HAPPY IN JESUS THAN TO TRUST AND OBEY!

hmmmm interesting

i ask Him questions like

Lord when i get to heaven can you sit down with me sometime and show me what might have happened if i wasn't so slow to believe You?

Lord do i really have to stay down here one more day?

Lord why are so many people so completely blind?

(edit: impertinent questions removed ;p)

then sometimes i think about the questions He asks me like

he who believes in me though he were dead yet shall he live and he that lives and believes in me shall never die DO YOU BELIEVE THIS??!!!!

and i think His questions are far more interesting than mine :)

but these might not be the sort of thing you had in mind.

I think it is almost impossible for an intelligent, serious Christian who wants to impact on the broader society to NOT question God at some stage. I have questioned God at times, and it has certainly not hurt my faith. As a matter of fact, every time he leads me to an answer I am newly convinced of how truly great He is.

Look at David for someone who certainly did not hesitate to have some very frank discussions with God. Look also at Isaiah 1:18, where it reads " 'Come now, let us reason together', says God."

Those are the sort of questions, I would ask God.But all I really want
to do is build my relationship with him. I love when God speaks. Its like no other voice. well it's not a voice, sometimes I feel his :holy: presence and that's enought for me. I dont ask questions to bugggggggg him,but to grow closer to him:prayer:

yeah it's good to ask questions right?

i mean people were asking Jesus questions all the time and He was answering them with incredible (really amazing) answers.

and even when they asked Him from a wrong motive He still answered them?

those are so wild like Mark 12:13 and Mark 12:37

but what about John chapter 3 with nicodemus asking the Lord questions regarding the new birth?

ah the Lord will want to teach me so many great things and will use my questions as an opportunity to move this process along it seems.

is it any wonder we love Him so :)

who else would we turn to He has the words of life.

It is ok to question our understanding of God, and ask Him to help us understand His ways better, but I don't believe it is fruitful to question God. God is perfect, it is our understanding of God that can be flawed.

If we have faith in Christ crucified, then we know everything we need to enter into his everlasting salvation.

There is nothing wrong in asking questions to God. There could be "n" number of questions cropping up in our heads which we badly need God to answer. God does not feel bad for that. In fact, He is more than willing to answer all our questions but all in good time! One excellent resource we have on earth is The Holy Bible which is extremely helpful in answering most of our questions if we spend our quality time in understanding the Bible.

Is it wrong for a child to question its Parents or Teachers? No. They are more than happy that you asked that question and would like to answer that question of yours.

But, it is not good to ask questions like "Why did you make me like this?", "You could have made me better than this if You so wanted?" and it is not ideal to complain against God or to blame God for the sufferings that we might be passing thru in life. And questions like "Why did you create Satan? Why did you create Evil?" etc. All such questions only mean that we are finding it hard to understand God.

God is infinite and man is finite and it would take, i guess, even our after-death-life to understand God.

i like how my mentor taught me

"you cant question God, but you can ask God a question"

there not the same thing.
i think we probly all have "questioned God" but it isnt right, its only folly and only leads to trouble. it shouldnt be done.

asking someone a question, isnt the same as like questioning a persons motives, the latter involves blatant distrust and a theory of falsehood.
and God is never false, he doesnt lie and doesnt need to be brought before the council.

If done in faith and humility it would not be wrong to even challenge God. There are many examples found within the Old Testament, most famously Abraham. He swayed Gods decision to destroy all of Soddom and Gomorra (excuse spelling) on the condition he could find 100 righteous men. After more 'persuasion' he brought it down to 1 righteous man.

Heres a scripture that is always interesting.

Isaiah 43:26
Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.

Remember how the centurion's faith swayed Jesus decision as well? These are a few examples.

God Bless, metal.

i dont think that was actually him challenging God though...
you dont challenge God... you may plead something, but thats not challenging.

anyone can plead grace and mercy and maybe even get God to do things he wasnt going to.
but its not challenging him.

Its all a matter of terms really, what you consider challenging is probably somwhat stronger than what I consider it to be.

Plead may well be the correct term to use.

Ill explain myself better!

The Bible shows that people have put forward their cases and persuaded God to make or change a decision. For example Abraham, the centurion, etc etc. This is in by NO means telling God that he is wrong (which the word challenge may well connate), but rather asking him to see another perspective or answer.

Do you think that makes more sense?

God Bless, metal.

I'm encouraged by John the Baptist...after all the revelation he had about who Jesus was and is...he seems to get wobbly when he is imprisoned. The Lord was not offended by this genuine question..."Are you the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

The Lord gives Him encouraging proofs...to bolster his spirit. Mt. 11:2-6 Going to Jesus always seems good to me.

I completely agree. I admit at times I question God, but then realize God knows best...so I go along with his plans...even though I know not of what will come.

yeah, but its hard ya know? to make myself believe him no matter what?
sometimes its hard.
like there was a time when i ran away from God, and now all the skepticism and speculations and patterns of clear unbelief that i dwelled in, there still in my head. and now im having a time dealing with them.

i just think we need to clearly differentiate between asking God questions with is very good to do, and then questioning Gods intregrity or other things, there not the same.

like when Jesus cried out, Father why have you forsaken me?
he wasnt questioning God becuase his faith hadnt dropped, but he was asking God a question.
