Well, I don't see any reason why rap itself would be wrong. I think it's more the lyrics you have to watch for, but that's true of every style of music out there.

I mean there is some good christian rap.

I still listen to some secualr stuff but it doesnt affect my faith in any way. If you are easily influenced then I would sugest not to listen to secular.

I prefer christian rap over contemporary christian music. It is good because of the lyrics. People rap about their lives without the cuss words

A music style in itself cannot be wrong. but the message it brings can be! so rap, as a music style is not more wrong than hyms. but the message many secular rap artists have is very wrong! is all comes down to the lyrics, but there is nothing wrong with christian rap!

Christian rap: some of it is pretty good, some of it is ridiculously bad.


But I agree about asking God whether it's ok. People don't have the authority to give you a definite yes or no on matters like that...but God can and will direct your heart.

Rap isnt a bad genre of music. That is just a generalization, cmon if i said rock is bad everyone would say no way. Rap isnt bad, you cant label types of music as bad otherwise you be implying that we have the authority to say what type of music is christian and what isnt. Its really about the message in the songs. Theres good rap and bad rap which doesnt promote christianity. But that is true for every kind of music so we cant label any one as a bad form of music.

Its nothing wrong with listening to christian rap. But if you in your heart feel that it is wrong for some reason, it becomes unpure!
check out Rom. 14, 7.
But secular rap is wrong!! Rom 14, 23: and everything that does not come from faith is sin!!

but it is up to the person, if the message (christian) in the song is clear, and the music style does not interfere with it, there is nothing wrong with it! But secular rap is, and stays "unpure".
