as i understand it most of what goes in is 'soulish' not devilish. And according to a true biblical perspective, Satan is not some rogue agent, but under God's control (Job).

Music is music. Sure some lyrics may be somewhat anti-christian, but then again, how many Christians embarass their Lord by breaking speed limits.

Horses for courses. We see the same tired arguments from these people all the time and they are usually the same people who think the King James Version is the inspired word of God.

Take everything with a pinch of salt

I agree. The sites mentioned in the OP are usually created by people who have the notion that rock music in any form is wrong, and they'll go to any lengths to prove it. The sites are full of inaccuracies, misrepresentations and even lies in some cases.

Yup. That's my general assessment of the matter as well.

I have two things to say on the matter.

First, I think that as long as you're aware of what you're listening to and the lyrical implications, and listening to that music doesn't interfere with your life with Jesus, it's not an issue.

Second, as a musician, I like listening to what I consider to be good music. I really dislike most modern Christian bands and the music that they produce, whereas there are a ton of "secular" bands that I totally love and listen to all the time. If people really are concerned about our youth getting corrupted by Punk rock or whatever, they should put their resources towards writing or producing good Christian music instead of condemning good secular music.

Just my two cents.

Personally, I hate heavy-metal rock - secular and Christian. So I'm not the most objective person to comment on it.

However, I can't say I believe it's inherently evil. I believe there are heavy metal bands that are evil, and some of their music is incredibly sick and twisted.

I also believe it's a no-brainer that music DOES move and change us, and does so deeply.

So... are there some heavy-metal Christian bands you could enjoy? Are there better alternatives?

I love rock music also... but not the real hard stuff. I stayed at a lock-in in a church around my area, and they had a couple of bands playing there. Well the last ones where HARD rock christian band... Someone had to buy the CD so we could understand what they were supposedly saying... All we could hear were screams that sounded like DIE!! over and over i kid you not. I find it hard to agree with that kind.

Enjoy whatever music you want to. It's not going to turn you into a satanist, despite what some people will tell you. I know Christians who listen to hard rock, and they certainly seem to be religious.

Proverbs 23:7 says "as a man thinks, so is he". Whatever you let in your mind will affect you in some manner. Your actions tend to be a product of your thoughts. You can control your actions but NOT the consequences. Let enough satanic messages in and it will affect your thought process and behavior.

But there's a difference between "non-Christian" music, and devils music. I can think of like three bands who are really satanic. I can think of a lot of other bands who sound like those bands, but their not satanic.

And I don't think that you're "feeding the flesh" by listening to good music. God can be found in all forms of beauty and goodness, and "secular music" can easily be a source of that.

I remember Tipper Gore in the 80's when she participated in that one crusade. I also remember her publicly going to a Stones concert(goat's head soup anyone?).
Today's genre is tomorrow's church hymn. Enuff said.

I don't think it's 'devil's music', maybe people just think that because it doesn't sound traditionally Christian. Music itself is not evil, but the words can be. Be really careful about the words, but I don't think the music itself is wrong. my two cents...

God bless

I do agree that music can effect our moods. If it can do that, then it can effect your emotions. We are to be Christ-like people and not a mad or ill-tempered people like some of this music can make you feel like. How about listening to some praise music and spending time in the presence of God?? Just my opinion, not everybody's.
