  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it wrong to hope for the end of the world?

Is it a sin to hope for end times?

Why would it be?

Can someone be converted through their belief that the world is coming to an end?
Anything is possible. But a 'conversion' based on the fear of the end of days isn't likely to be a terribly strong commitment.

Wishing for the end times would be condemning all the unsaved. I think in that respect it is selfish. However, wanting to be in the presence and the Glory of God is something that we all want.

I agree.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It depends on what you are calling or uniderstand what hope means.

If you are wishing the end time to come soon then you are entering a desperate situation of depression with your life as you envision it.

From a definition the hope in scripture is a positive thing of knowing that God is in charge and whatever He wants to happen is for good.

Conversion can only come by believing Jesus is the Savior and the Son of God and wanting to repent of all sins and seek forgiveness. God will accept you as a child of God if you are truly seeking Him. I suggest you also seek that He fill you with the Holy Spirit. However you must understand that this will require you to give your will to God and be willing to walk in His will for your life.

Why would fear of end of days be less of an incentive than fear of going to hell as an individual? There are many latter-day prophets predicting doom and urging people to Christ because days are short. Are they wrong to do so?

The people that claim to know the end, these so called "prohphets from God" are already off to a false start. There first step in converting these individuals were based on a lie. When the date passes, people are utterly discouraged. Some might make it out with their faith intact, certainly many new believers would shun God afterward. There is biblical scripture supporting that no one knows when the end times will be.

The end times are certainly closer than they were two thousand years ago, and it's certainly not bad to talk about it. We should be teaching on everything in the bible, not just the end times. That's why God gave allowed the bible to make it throughout the years.

Tribulation began late 2008. Things are about to get ugly. We're nearing the the last 3 1/2 years. Rapture will be soon. If anyone can be saved after that and be a tribulation saint, but see, it started and most people don't even know it. So I guess you got your wish. Amen?

Signs

1) Obama
2) Massive UFO activity everywhere
3) Massive amounts of "strong delusions" since 2008
4) Antichrist revealed. (I was banned once for posting his name, but go to Eschatology)
5) There are many others. I suggest sucscribing to and reading Tribulation Now.

I think it is selfish to hope for the end of the world for reason that RandoMWon said. However, I can understand why one would hope for the end to come - mainly judgment.

I sometimes find myself wishing the end would come so that all the evil in this world can be purged and I can finally live a life with Christ. But, I believe Christ is giving everyone as much time as possible because He knows when He judges us, most of us won't make it. So, it is bitter-sweet, because we have to endure the tribulation and trials, and witness these atrocities. But, when the end of the world (as we know it) happens, it will be a good day for believers.

But, we still have several years before we get to the end of the world. In fact, it may seem like the end of the world is occurring because of the events that will happen, but it is only the end of the world as we know it. Antichrist will come in with the spirit of satan, and with loaned power from God to do wonders he will seemingly restore things back to order. Then, the countdown begins to the true "end of the world" - also known as the Second Advent of Christ.

The earth will never be destroyed because it is the physical representation of Heaven.

I must admit that it appears that we are in the main set-up stage of the end of our age. However, we are not to live our lives like the world will end tomorrow.

Jesus tells us that nations will rise against nations AND kingdoms against kingdoms. I'm thinking that this will occur on a global scale and we're not there as yet. However, it is promising. The "The 1,000 Year Survival Guide" lays out this process in detail.
