  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Our economy depends on people acting criminally at worst or irresponsibly at best. Any change for the good in people would surely bring our economy down. Is it too late? Are we doomed to a zero sum game of half the population cleaning up the messes the other half makes?

It sure looks that way. The downhill slide is gathering intensity. Far too many of us living in blissful ignorance.

Quite vague, can you be specific in regards to what you are referring to? Also, who decides what is "right"?

As I stated in another thread; overly simplistic solutions to complex issues, fail miserably.

I haven't fully defined the problem much less any solutions.

The economy is not a zero sum game. Any 'analysis' that starts from that position is hopelessly flawed.

If you calculated average individual net worth (assets minus liabilities) you get a big fat zero, this after nearly 250 years of becoming a nation. To me this is a zero sum game.

For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

H. L. Mencken

Some problems are made unnecessarily complex in that they get out of control early and grow up like topsy. What Mencken was saying is that any solution must satisfy everyone or it's not valid. Of course that isn't possible in the real world.

As an example Mencken would rather see widespread disease and a healthy medical industry rather than widespread health and collapsing medical industry. Very perverse.

I have no idea what you are thinking with that first sentence. It doesn't seem to be correct.

Go down the list of occupations sometime. You'll see what I mean.

Since it is your statement, why don't you clarify for us and give us detail?

Policing for example. Millions are employed in catching bad guys and gals. Some of them could be doing more productive things.
