• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it pointless? Is it trolling? Is it foolish?

Sometimes it feels totally useless and foolish to try and outreach and discuss issues with people of different denominations or political views...

It now seems that many consider it trolling to just ask genuine, kind, gentle, honest questions or to be friendly...

That the differences, although not great, are so ingrained that everyone is too low in their foxholes to see the other side...

That it is easier to accuse others of being "not Christian" or not this-and-that than to listen and learn...

That so many are taking the easy, wide path of not listening or learning...

That it is everywhere, all over the world...

Don't worry about the world, Sally. You are not responsible for it, and you do not need to let its weight fall on you.

Are you ok other than this, or is there something up rather closer to home?

I usually find that the world becomes too heavy for me when I am not strong myself. I hope you are ok.

Meanwhile to answer your question, yes it is worth continuing, when we are able to. For every refusal to listen that we see in reply to our posts, there are ten people reading and thinking, this person has a real point, I must think about it.

:groupray: I know, some people are just silly. DoN't let them get to you. You are one of the nicest people I know here on CF; you could NEVER troll! :)

Maybe I'm just overtired. Maybe I'm just frustrated with the politics that are going on. There is a lot going on in my life...

But it's annoying and really hitting me like a brick

To use the old, naive, hopefulessly ignorant adage... why can't we all just get along?

I thought you sounded stressed.

I am not sure if it will help, but maybe a nice bubble bath, glass of wine, candles, trashy novel, early night ...

If the whole world were made of diamond, we would not appreciate diamonds at all. What we have is a lot of dross, and a few diamonds here and there.

Okay, after a good night's sleep, and a doctor's appointment/exam that went much better and was much less stressful than expected, I feel much much better and back to my old SallyNow self

I think we can work these things out on CF. And the world, well, the world has survived this far! Things will keep going, and begin to look better if everyone does their small part, whatever that small part happens to be.

We have our differences, but in the end, we all have one thing in common: we're all on the internet. Let's work from there :p

I am glad you are feeling better today, Sally.

Sometimes I say to my d, even if it ends up being you and me against the world, we will win every time.
