Is it blasphemy if it was an accident

I have unwanted blasphemous thoughts. I am afraid that I may have accidentally said one out loud. I don't know if I have done this, but if I did would I be guilty of blasphemy even though it was an accident?

Is this what you did as written in Matthew 12:31-32. It tells us that all forms sin and blasphemy can be forgiven of man but one.

Bible Gateway passage: Matthew 12:31-32 - King James Version

There is another definition of blasphemy - we rarely speak of. The Pharisees and Sadducees said to Jesus he committed blasphemy because he made himself equal to God

John 10:33-36 KJV - The Jews answered him, saying, For a - Bible Gateway

How many times was Jesus accused of "blasphemy?" - JesusAlive.cc

So which is the unforgivable form of blasphemy?
Did the devil commit the unforgivable sin of blasphemy when he tried to overthrow heaven - to set himself up as God, because he wanted to be God. According to scripture the prince of this world has been judged - and I add, the only one out of the one third of angels that were cast out of heaven down to earth with him.
JOHN 16:11 KJV "Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged."

Pray - if your thoughts are truly unwanted.

Hello @Jada11, I will second @sandman's "NOPE", because as @Sheila Davis just pointed out, blasphemies (save the one) are all forgivable, just like sin is .. e.g. 1 John 1:9.

Mark 3
28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
30 because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

The blasphemy that is unpardonable (from the moment that it is uttered) can only come from someone with the blackest of hearts, a person who absolutely knows the truth about the Lord (and how/by what power He was performing the miracles that He did), but intentionally lies anyway, and could care less that he/she has done so :(

The good news is this, if you are worried, ~even in the slightest~, about something that you have said (blasphemy is spoken, BTW), then you can have full assurance that you have not committed the one sin that is unforgivable.

God bless you!!

The cross covers a lifetime of mistakes and sins.

Heb 9:27-28 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.

The only way to blaspheme the Holy Spirit is to take our sins to the grave. The sin of Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit was mentioned of the Parasees because they saw all of Jesus's miracles, and called him of the devil. They had blasphemed the Holy Spirit by rejecting Jesus's proof that He was who He said He was. They were unwilling to repent.

YOu have not committed blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. The only way to do that is to fully and finally reject Jesus and the proof He offers.

It sounds like you may have OCD/scrupulosity. This is a very common obsession among people with religious OCD. How have you been doing lately?

Yeah, I have this same problem too sometimes, especially when I'm experiencing frustration, feel irritated or am having one of those days or moments. I normally say "I don't agree with that for the record" so the divine book-keepers can put a note on it if my thoughts are being monitored or something like that. (ie what is contained in the books in heaven that's referenced when people are giving accounts to God is somewhat of a mystery).
