ok a couple questions here. also if it helps in anyway i am 15 and am into 70s and 80s rock.

I like ACDC. i am a HUGE fan. i don't think they are actual satanists. if they are actual satanists or something can someone give a source? also i love their songs and it dosn't persuade me to kill people or worship the devil but should i still not listen?

also Led Zeppelin. i. absolutely. love. led zeppelin. their music is amazing to me. i would like some concret hard evidence to convince me to turn away from these guys but still i am open to any evidence of these guys being satanists and will respect any personal opinions. im not talking about image but like they worship the devil. plz no aricles about "claims" or "suspected.

I know theres alot going around the rolling stones but i want more evidenc. i wont be dissapointed if they are cuz im not too big on them.

now my last one and all-time fav def leppard. in my opinion the greatest band of all time. i srsly SRSLY doubt that they have anything to do with worshiping the devil but if anyone has anything concrete plz share.

now lt's say that they turn out to all be satanists or something. music does not nor will it ever have any influence in my faith. is it still a sin to listen?

one one more thing (lol). i like queen and i adore freddie mercury (im not gay though) is there even the slightest chance of hope that he didnt go to hell?

AC/DC, despite "Hell's Bells" and "Highway to Hell" is probably more of a hedonistic (let's all have a good time) band.
Led Zeppelin is more influenced by Norse mythology than Satanism, though Jimmy Page did dabble in it.
There really wasn't any spirituality, positive or negative, in Def Leppard's music.
I'd probably say it's OK to listen to it, long as you're aware there may be some negative spiritual messages from time to time and learn to steer clear when they pop up.

thank you. also i am a fan of judas priest and queen and thoroughly enjoy their work. if you're not familiar judas priest is a metal band that is rather tame in my opinion and queen is well a very differnt kind of rock but lyrics are clean as a whistle. the problem is that both lead singers are homosexuals. im not a gay-basher or anything but im wondering if its a sin too like their music. let me say again that the lyrics are pretty clean.

No... we all are sinners and if it was a sin to listen to music one sinner made, it would be a sin to listen to all music.

I don't think it's really a sin to listen to any kind of music.... just not beneficial and you should take care of what you are listening to lyrics wise but I still wouldn't call that a sin. Just may cause you to stumble later or become callous to things you should be on your guard about.

And I like Judas Priest too... they have some pretty good songs, though I prefer Iron Maiden and stuff.

iwannarock,

I was a rocker back in the day... 'loved heavy metal. I loved AC/DC, Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden... and on and on.

I can google AC/DC lyrics and have some great satanic lyrics for you in about 5 minutes. But you already know what the words say.

If you really love rock, may I suggest the following artists? Listen to them, and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, Relient K, Pillar, 12 Stones, Superchick, Toby Mac, Lecrae, John Reuben, KJ 52, Big Dismal, and Audio Adrenaline.

Sorry but those don't even sound remotely similar or even in the same vein... Some are decent music but hardly 70's and 80's hard rock sounds. Some of those aren't even rock, period.

I think you'd like X Sinner though... I was never really a fan of AC/DC and never really bothered to check out Sinner X much but they sound pretty similar. Obviously HUGE AC/DC/Cinderella influence.

Rob Rock is a good Christian heavy metal/hard rock artist if you like stuff like Judas Priest. Also, check out Impellitteri if you like Rob Rock. Not specifically a Christian band but the band was formed by two Christians, Rob Rock being the original vocalist. Very positive songs but not explicitly Christian.

My favorite Christian metal band though is easily Theocracy They don't really have that 70's or 80's heavy metal/hard rock sound but they're worth checking out anyway I think. They're more progressive/power metal but anyway.

I LOVE '70s rock! I listen to AC/DC, Zep, Stones, Leppard, etc. My favorite band of all time is Fleetwood Mac, whose member, Stevie Nicks, has often been accused of being a witch (and there is NO TRUTH to that, BTW).

Just remember that God can use ALL things for good and, as long as you don't take your eyes off of Him and delve into the negative, it's all good.

It is true that Led Zeppelin was heavily influenced by the occult, primarily aleister crowley who Jimmy Page was a huge fan of. Jimmy Page owned an occult bookstore in London that specialized in rare crowley books. That being said, I listen to them quite frequently and they are probably one of my favorite bands and the devil hasn't gotten me yet. For me, at least, it is not on the list of things I need to stop doing. Just be sure that they don't influence you in a negative way; I have noticed that alot of secular music can do that to me. As for Ac/Dc I don't know, i'm not a huge fan. Just do what you think is right.

I love all different styles and genres of music, but since becoming a Christian, there is some stuff that I won't listen to anymore...My basic rule is if I would be embarrassed for my kids to hear it then why should I want to listen to it? So I avoid songs that are vulgar or full of drug references...things like this...to me these just lead to temptation.

I like the bands mentioned in the OP...except for Zeppelin...but that's only because I think Jimmy Page is a sloppy musician, and nothing special...I don't think there's anything wrong with listening to any of them though.

I think it's cool that you guys are worried about these type of things. I myself worry about what music I listen to as well. Because I'm easily influenced partly because my faith in God hasn't been as strong as it should. I'm not really grounded. I would say it all depends on your faith and strength. I mean if you are bothered by what you are listening to, don't force yourself to keep on listening to it cause your just gonna freak out (which was my problem) because if your weaker in faith you can't pop in a Marilyn Manson CD like a person full of faith. But also don't undermine the problems that you may face like for instance if you keep on listening to music that says "light up and puff puff pass" well... lol theres gonna be a heavy chance your going to be tempted to smoke marijuana. You have to be realistic to so don't dive into bad music and when you get tempted to do bad things stop listening to that stuff for awhile and pop in a good Christian CD.

When your faith is weak dont listen to the things that'll make you stumble but if you feel your fine then keep asking God about the issue and decide from there.
