I have old game called warhammer for ps1. The main theme is unit combat but you can use magic. Without using magic I get slaughtered and I don't think I can out fight my enemy. So I ask you guys if I should just to stay away or try magic?

P.S.-Forgive me for this being so short, I have to go to school in about 4 minutes!!!

Games are games! Too true.

As for Magic vs Miracles: As was the case with Moses vs Pharos Magicians, Magic is just a poor, underpowered, counterfiet, controlled by Satan and his minions.

People can NOT perform Miracles! God performs them and uses "people" as his instrument. (Who parted the red sea? Moses or God? Read it!)

The same MUST be true of magic. People can not perform magic, they simply think they can. The truth behind the illusion is that Satan is behind the effect. (Even if it apears to be "for good" (White Magic)).

If it doesnt give glory to God, it is a counterfiet from the enemy.

But that's all real life stuff. We're talking about games here :)

Didn't want to really reply as this is the games section but since I did kind of bring it up.

Miracle and magic are the same to me, the reason well...

They are both the use of supernatural forces

They both are directed by the user. In some cases depending on who's magic system you are using the magic comes form the weilder but mostly from a supernatural being.

When Moses parted the Red Sea it was he that did it using power from God

Sorry for side tracking the post I know it should go elsewhere hmm maybe a good topic I might start one :)

Sorry, but God parted the Red Sea. Moses simply asked him to. Can't comment on magic, I don't believe in it.

I love magic in games, one of my favourate games is Baldurs Gate 2, where one of the most powerful types of NPC's are mages etc. With out them them I would probably a more depressed person.

[silly logic] If this is the same for other people, who in general are more depressed on the point of commiting suicide but not quite, then perhaps magic in games is saving lives.

WHOOHOO go magic.
[/silly logic]

what you're doing is saying "If I do this in a game, I'm saying it's OK in real life". you're not casting a spell, you're pressing a little button to further your high score. don't worry about it. i wrestled with this for a very short while, and found that if you don't take it seriously, it can't affect your life.

Miracles are different from magic. Miracles are like magic, except only used for good purposes. Jesus never shot a beam of enmergy at someone and killed them. I say it is just a game though, but be careful and don't get too caught up in it.
neither did any human

Moses was a mage, pure and simple. Whether he played around with godforms or whatever, the man was a mage. You obviuosly know very little about The Art.

Miracles are achieved through prayer/meditation and focus on a particular goal. Deities do occasionally intervene, but these are rare and epic moments.

Okay, education time.
The Art is applying the energy around us to accomplish our desires. Using The Art is not merely speaking a few words in Enochian and casting a a circle of salt, it is mental focus and concentration--the ritual bits are usually used by beginners to help them keep focus. There is no good or evil magic, The Art is available to all and can be used in any way. The real truth here is that there is no fictional villain handing out spellbooks.

Im sorry but it's time for "Absolute truth" here and a Christian Forum is not a place where I feel like dulling down the gospel to stop from "offending" anyone!

Magic IS a pure counterfiet from Satan. Moses was NOT a wizard, warlock, mage, mace, muppet or anything else of the sort. He was someone with a passion for God's people and God, the creator of the earth and the heavens, the creator of you and me, used him to free them from Egypt.

GOD performs miracles! Satan performs the counterfiet. This is NOT up for debate, it's just simple biblical fact. I am right and you are wrong. Simple.

As for dieties "sometimes" intervieing.... God interviens and is interested in my life DAY by DAY!! Every day He is with me and helps me. Guess I'm lucky... or guess you are missing out on the best relationship of all time. The releationship with THE GOD, the one and only GOD. Don't be fooled by Satan anymore mate. He's giving you a lift to the only place his car goes.... hell!

Could you articulate exactly how I can tell, watching someone do something, whether it's magic or a miracle?
The 1st thing I would look for would be, is it done in the name of Jesus? Although I am aware that even this isn't fool proof as the Bible says in Revaltions that some would claim "I have performed miracles in your name" and Jesus will reply "I never knew you".

It's a good start though.

aha i finally found a verse that applies to magic...ok Revalations 21:8 "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who PRACTICE magic arts, the idolators and all the liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." the key word there is practice pushing a button isnt practice, repeating "Habushka nobu kaga....etc." or sitting for hours meditating for your enemies to burn or using premonitions etc is practicing. so go ahead and play video games if you dont take all the stuff to seriously.
