god gave man this sexual need, we do what we have to right?, as long as you touch and think of your wife is that ok?, and if your wife is cool with it cool, next is two girls 3 girls whatever, in the bible itself men had many wives at one time, so is it ok?, the bible seems to say hay, read the songs of songs. try thinking like this, touching yourself is ok if you feel it is ok and dont spend countless hrs just focused on that, its like asking if medation is a sin, or getting a back rub, happy ending are just that, happy times

For as little sense as that made, it somehow made perfect sense.

I think the idea is that as long as no one is being hurt and agreement if it is between husband and wife, then it is okay. I agree to that too.

well, I have to admit I'm rather disgusted with the ridiculous arguments that are coming in defence of masturbation. The bottom line is, the sexual experience was created by God as a beautiful experience bringing to humans together as one and creating life. Anything besides that is not what God designed it to be and therefore perversion. Somebody that masturbates thinking about their wife has a serious problem because either a) they aren't satisfied with the real thing or b) they don't know how to control their desires. Anyone that defends it with all of the weird arguments I've been seeing is simply trying to justify something they can't get victory over.Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

I assume, then, that you also oppose any other form of sex except intercourse, and that you hold the old catholic view that sperm must be "deposited" inside the vagina.

I assume your married and are speaking from experience...

In the Army you spend a lot of time away from home on field movements or deployments. 6-8 months deployed in war situation is a long time to be away from your spouse/ loved one, especially if your marriage is blessed with a healthy sex life while in garrison (when you are home/ on base). In situations like this self control becomes a main focurs of prayer.

I agree lusting after other women is wrong, but lusting after your own wife, after being seperated from her for a long peroid of time because of deployment, in my mind is not. I think you will find it very hard to convince myself and many other Christains that serve their countries otherwise.

touching yourself outside marriage is wrong, most of all because you're lusting. It is sinful to lust for somebody you aren't married to.

And for those of you who say you can touch and not lust, I say this. Better safe than sorry.

I live alone, have no husband with me, no companion, nothing, no one. Yet I have a healthy sexual appetite. So what would you suggest, other than total abstinence from anything sexual because that would place on me an enormous amount of stress and I could end up doing worse things. So something other than totally pure which God made sure that I am not.

And for your information, a person does not have to lust in order to touch....that is an old wives tale. I know because I do not lust.

but that doesn't do anything to relieve the inner sexual tension that God intended for us to have for His plan of procreation. In other words, that is talking putting off the stress till later and then put it off again till later, etc., etc. until the lid blows, not for me, but for someone who might eventually go out and rape, maybe a child.

It is easy to say, don't do this or that when you are secure in your own little world looking out and saying no, no, God won't like that. Everything is relevant and obviously you have no need to touch so you can be critical. I am not asking anymore because you have no understanding. Walk in my shoes for a day and then talk to me.

Ahh the beauty of youth and innocence...threeinone makes a great point here. It sooo easy to judge others but ignore our own shortcomings. I dont drink so it extremely easy for me to say, dont drink...I dont do drugs so its easy form me to say, dont do drugs etc etc...but as threeinone says until you've walked in her shoes for a day you cant know her trials and tribulations on a daily basis.

Our path is betwen us an Jesus we are there to help our Brothers and Sisters in Christ, but if we are judging them, we are wrong. Suggestions are great, but if the suggestions are governed by an unjust judgement, they can be very one sided.

You are right BC.....it is not easy. And our Sumo friend also has a good point. I have no good defence for masturbation. It is just that for me at this point in my life, masturbation is not a priority to worry over.

Did you know BC that babies touch, young children touch. By the time children get to be your age, they've already been doing it for many years and either no one saw or no one said anything. I think it is the latter and why do you suppose that it is that no one said anything to the babies, young children? I'll answer.....because they don't want to turn the kids into sex fear freaks......they want them to know that sex is natural in all of its forms. So why is it that when a child gets to be 16 or 14, all of a sudden it is wrong and has to be stopped? I can't answer that one. Any wonder it is not easy to stop something that has gone unchecked for years.

First of all let me start out by saying that I don't think anyone here is without compassion for sexual tension. But as far as babies and children, all I will say is that we are born sinners. Yes a child doesn't even know it's sexual, so they do not know what the purpose of their organs are. This doesn't mean that an adult who masturbates can claim innocence. There is something called the age of accountability.

Something you said concerns me greatly. You seem to assume that masturbation satisfies an urge, and keeps one content when they might otherwise go out and rape someone. This could not be further from the truth. Why don't you go and find some interviews with serial killers? They will all tell you they started out with porn and masturbation. Ted Bundy said that the porn he was into is on everyone's television now. It's not even considered porn anymore. Most of the time when men touch it is from some kind of visual stimulation. This drive is not satisfied, it wants more and more. It also escalates, like an alcoholic who needs harder alcohol, or more of it, to get the same feeling. Most men at this point would need harder and more deviant porn. If you think that rape occurs due to sexual tension, you are decieved. Rape is violence, and yes someone who started out liking the feeling of masturbation and needs to feed his urge with something more so he can keep that same intensity, is likely to eventually develop the urge for violent sex. I am not saying everyone who masturbates becomes a rapist. But it definitely contributes to rape. It doesn't in anyway stop it, or curb it, anymore than marriage stops someone from masturbating who has developed a habit.
