I hear a lot of people talking about Israel some say it's a good country but some don like it.my brother says that Israel is responsible for 9/11 and the Iraq war. is that true? my friend says he is worng and stupid but I don't know who is right. I think my friend is right because 9/11 was done by those muslims from the middle east.

Like virtually everything in international politics, "it's complicated". Very few things are as simple as a country being "good or bad".

Israel had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks though.

It's broadly good. Many of us think they have some ill-considered policies, as regards their occupation of Palestine, but this is not reason to hate the nation of Israel, and certainly not the people who live there.

Israel ignored more UN security council resolutions then Saddam Hussein.
And the only reason they got away with it is because none of them were binding. Because the US vetoed every single one of them.

In reality, Israel is a terrible country with no regard for human rights and values at all.

The UN disproportionally attacked Israel and ignores the real human rights abusers. There is no occupation of "Palestine" because there is no such country, since they rejected numerous chances to form such a country. Israel is not responsible for 9/11, the main thing that bred that event was the gulf war, which also was not a result of Israel but if Sadaam Huissein.

9/11 was backed by Al queda in response to war in kuwait, and carred out primarily by Saudi extremists.

Israel is hard to pin as exclusively bad or good, as are most nations (except for a few like North Korea, which are pretty atrocious). Israel was formed through illegal immigration and terrorism, but is this was fueled by a massive failure of many nations, including the US and Britain to provide refuge for them when Germany began persecuting them.

I don't see how Israel could have formed by "illegal" immigration since their history shows that the Land of Israel has a history of thousands of years. So what exactly do you mean?

The UN has given us a distorted view of Israel. They constantly table resolutions against Israel without bothering to find out the truth of the situation and when Hamas or Hezbollah do something, they ignore it. If Israel do anything that involves attacking the Gaza Strip they are sanctioned, but the fact that Hamas has fired over 3,000 rockets into Israel has been ignored.

In most cases, Israel never initiates war. It is usually a response to an attack on them. I have read the history of Israel since it became a country again in 1948 and every war that was detailed was in response to an attack on them.

One thing that is not reported is how the Jews have opened their hospitals to Palestinians and performed life saving surgery because the Palestinian hospitals could not do it.

The reason that the Palestinians in Gaza live in poverty and camps is because Hamas spends aid money on arms, not on the people of Gaza. When the Jews pulled out of Gaza, they left their houses for the Palestinians to live in. What did Hamas do? They destroyed them and put the people in camps.

The reason that women and children die in Gaza when their is a conflict is because Hamas place guns and rocket launchers in places where the people live, even in schools. They deliberately put children in front of the guns so they can say the Jews are killing children.

Yasser Arafat died a millionaire because he was filching money from the aid money for himself.

Israel is the size of New Jersey. The Arabs have millions of square miles to live in so there angst against Israel and the demand for all of Jerusalem does not stack up. If they can't live on millions of square miles a few more is not going to make any difference.

Their hate for Israel has blinded them to truth. Israel was given back the land in 1948 and they are there to stay. Nothing the Arabs can do will shift them as it was prophesied in the Bible that they would get the land back so it is a fait accompli.

In actual fact, Israel offered Yasser Arafat 95% of what he wanted at Camp David and he went back to Ramallah and started the first Intifada. He didn't want the land he wanted to fight so that he could claim victim status and get the UN to finance his shenanigans.

Compared to Islam and the Arabs, Israel is a paragon of Human Rights. It is a know fact that every citizen of Israel is allowed to vote in elections and to stand for parliament. There are Arabs in the Israeli parliament.

It is a known fact that the Arabs living in israel under Israeli rule are much better off than Arabs living in Arab held territory. They say they would much rather live under Israeli rule than Arab rule because they get treated equally.

As the main stream media is opposed to Israel, you will not get much truth out of them about Israel. If you want to know the truth you will have to go to the alternative media.

Israel is the ONLY democracy in the Middle East. Generally speaking arab nations are dictatorships or oligarchies. Without exception they treat women atrociously. I have just read a book written by someone who spent three years in Yemen. They said that the bride is not allowed to attend their own wedding. It is all fixed up by the Imam and the bridegroom at the mosque then he comes to the bride's house and collects her. Women are not allowed to learn to read and write and if a brother is beating up his sister and the father is watching, he will do nothing to stop it.

The temperature can be stifling in Yemen but the women still have to wear a total covering with only her eyes showing. Under that she is sweating like a pig but she dare not take it off. If a baby is born with any disability it is her fault. She is not allowed to look at a man. If she wants to talk to one she has to look at the ground. Her job is to run the house and do the chores and look after the children. The man sits around doing nothing or talking to other men.

Homosexuals keep ranting on about being second class citizens if they are not allowed to marry. If they want to know what that means all they have to do is live in Yemen or some other arab nation. They will encounter second class citizens first hand and they are known as women.

It is just a beat up used by the mainstream media and the anti Israel affectionados to denigrate the only democracy in the Middle East. And they talk about Palestine being "occupied" territory which is another beat up. Prior to the Jews return in 1948, there was no country or government. Palestinians only got upset once the Jews claimed their land again. Prior to that they were wandering tribes going where the land and weather was suitable for growing crops and feeding livestock.

When the Jews returned in 1948, Jordan promised to repatriate the Palestinians who were Hashermites (most of them) but when push came to shove, they closed the border with Israel and would not let them in. If they had there would be no problem today.

Prior to the Jews reclaiming the land in 1948 it was a desert and very unproductive. Since 1948, the Jews have turned it into a land flowing with milk and honey and they have succeeded in growing food in the desert and making it a land of plenty.
