I remember that God asks us to obey the laws of our government (unless otherwise stated). So under age drinking could be considered breaking the law. Not sure if it is a sin, but I have I had to guess I have to say yes.

As for intoxication...Well, I know drinking in moderation isn't bad. But intoxication would ber very unwise. Since our body is the resting point of the Holy Spirit, we should take care of it and not abuse it with any substance that could so so.

That's my personal opinion anyway.

And so is even just drinking a small amount of alcohol, not enough to be intoxicated considered a sin of it's under the legal age? I mean I know there is no definit answer but in your opinion is that a sin?
And I get that it's wrong to harm the body but is getting high like only occasionally enough to be considered harming the body?
Thanks again and sorry if these are kinda stupid questions :)

Breaking a law that does not disagree with the Word of God is sin. See the following scriptures regarding submitting to human authority: Romans 13:1-7, Hebrews 13:17, Titus 3:1, Romans 3:1, Ephesians 5:21, Daniel 3:1-30 (example of when a law does not agree with the Word of God). Also, illegal drug use would fall under the same category. Also, 1 Peter 5:8 calls us to be sober and alert do that we can remain strong against the enemy. When we compromise our mind we become an easy target for the enemy. I feel the same is the case for being high. Also, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, is the verse about our boy beig the temple of the Lord. We surrender our bodies to Christ when we give Him out lives, and with this we surrender our fleshly desires. We choose to leave those things alone because it compromises our minds as well as our ability to witness. If the world is so accepting of it, is that not also an indicator? We are called to be holy and sanctified, set apart an different from the world. See: John 15:19, 1 John 2:15, and James 4:4. Hope this helps! I apologize if I come off preachy in any of this, I am simply very convicted to abstain from all alcohol and drugs. However, I don't judge for it, people close to me struggle with it, which spurred my conviction.

I do not believe that you would go to hell for having a sip or two of alcohol underage. I turned 18 and I was allowed to have a small glass of champagne with my parents at new years and i had no guilt afterwards.
As for getting drunk or high, I personally have no desire at all because frankly i am scared of losing control of my mind and my actions, not to mention the effects it could have on my body.

I will say this, from what I have learned about alcohol, even the smallest bit of it can affect you. That said, anyone who is under the legal age of drinking shouldn't drink. It has many risks that I don't think they can handle. I can't quite say it's a sin but it does go against the law of the government, which as Christians, we are encouraged to obey unless it goes against God's word.

As for getting high, occasional can lead to frequent use. Which can really escalte. When all is said and done, it is probably safe to not get high at all.

It's okay, asking questions is how we learn things.

Ok sorry but one last question, and this may sound really stupid don't get me wrong I understand that doing other drugs may lead to frequent use but what about doing weed like every now and then? I mean it's not really addictive right so is it really that harmful? Sorry, for these question...
And thank you for everyones answers, I really appreciate them :)

Hi :( It appears my post didn't show up when I tried to do it earlier so i'm just going to post a more condensed version. I don't think you should try to do weed as it can lead to bad things and I believe that it is a sin. I also believe that it can open the door to evil spirits but i'm not so sure about that. About the alcohol drinks you should watch these videos by teacher and evangelist Perry Stone Jr.

Anyways this is between you and God so forgive me if I come off as judgemental, I don't mean to be that way, God Bless you!

I'm a atheist, but regardless of whether intoxication is a sin, just don't do it. Trust me, I spent 6 months last year getting totally wasted, often passing out and generally getting messed up. It's not fun. And its not easy to tell yourself to stop once you start going. Don't drink until your 21. Quiting drinking is a hell of a lot harder than starting.

While weed may not be addictive as other drugs, it is a danger nevertheless. Pretty much all drugs come with consequences most of which can be completly avoided and let's be honest, what good do drugs such as weed do anyway?

Nah its a great question. i used to smoke weed and even when i got saved i still asked. and the Lord answered. yes it is. (as weeks and months went by he showed me) One. The bible says keep a sound and sober mind, because the enemy can attack you at any moment of weakness. I call it being caught slippin by Satan. two. The bible says that our body belongs to christ. we are a living sacrifice. Smoking and drinking (even in "small doses") always have a negative affect in our bodies. Drinking hurts the liver, the brain, the nervous system, etc...and smoking cigs harm the lungs and give lung cancer, weed also. Though it doesn't cause cancer it will effect the lungs and weed hurts us more spiritually. because just being high on anything your in a deceived state of mind. aka...everything is ok type of mood. Some folks even get more of hard on for sex when their high. aka...become easily able to be tempted by satan (even though he'll always do when we're sober) when high or drunk your easily able to fall. So drugs in general and even alcohol should be avoided to really grow spiritually. Because at the end of the day most of us break the 1st commandment by relying on these things to keep us "chill" or "calm". Coming from a former pothead i tell you my high is the holy spirit and it actually lasts a lifetime. And its free. lol

Yes I agree. Anything that changes your 'state of mind' (for the worse) for a long time is something I'm guessing God would want you to be wary of. It seems like intoxication puts someone in a position where they are more likely to sin.

I believe that if you were to call drinking or becoming intoxicated sinful then you could only point Jesus Christ as being a man who caused a lot of sin. If we turn our eyes to his first miracle in John 2:1-11, where he turned water into wine at a wedding celebration, we see that Jesus could not have been an enemy of drinking. Jewish wedding tradition at the time involved drinking until everyone had essentially fallen over and Jesus aided this process. In the Bible it says a little wine is good for the soul.
So I would take the position that drinking sensibly is not sinful, however drinking and acting in a style that is sinful is naturally sinful.

Is alcohol a sin? No. Is getting drunk a sin? Yes. Is underage drinking a sin? Yes. Why? Because it is the law of the land, and we as Christians are supposed to follow such rules. When I turn 21, and I still feel no conviction, I'm gonna get a Jack Daniels. But I can wait, as it is what the LORD requires of me, and you.

Is weed a sin? Well, no. Is an addiction to it a sin? Yes. What do I mean by addiction, though? I don't mean getting high every second of your life. I mean turning to some form of pleasure(sex, drugs, alcohol) in order to "feel better". This feeling should only come from Christ's love. So in this sense, smoking weed is kind of moot, as the only reason to do so is to feel better.

Note: I am not talking about medicinal marijuana(if it isn't being abused by the user). To me, that's a legit form of drug use. It helps. An addiction to it, however, is a sin.
