Superman is going to go to hell because he's an Alien, and obviously since Jesus didn't come to die for the aliens.
Spiderman and the X-Men are going to hell because their genetic mutations are an affront to God. It's unnatural and not part of the order of things
Batman is going to hell because he embodies an animal commonly associated with darkness. This of courses crosses the anti spiritism boundaries of our faith.
Captain Planet is definitely going to hell because...well it's a horrible cartoon with the subtlety of a rhinocerous dancing Swan Lake in clown shoes and a bright pink polka dot tutu.
In 1967 my wife and I sat in the congregation and heard the minister declare in his sermon that everyone who did not follow the dictates of that denomination was going to hell. This included all Methodists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Lutherans, and especially Roman Catholics. His rhetoric was so virulent that he was practically foaming at the mouth by the time he ended his sermon.
But how does such condemnation of others 'measure up' to Scripture? It doesn't. We are told quite clearly what our mindset is to be toward ourselves, toward others, and toward God himself:
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. (Galatians 5:16-26,NIV)
I call this passage 'The Christians Code of Conduct'. Not only are our words and actions to conform to what God wants of us, but the underlying motives for those words and actions are to conform to what God wants of us. 'The fruit of the Spirit', the 9 emotions listed in the third paragraph of this passage, are to be seen, and accepted, by us as the borders within which all our words and actions are to originate. Those who would have us go outside those borders and instead follow their lead are to be rejected, irregardless of how pious their words appear.
On a personal note, I have never heard a person who claimed to be a Christian condemn others to hell, without having that same person also tell others that the message of Matthew 25:31-46 (feed the hungry) no longer applied to Christians. It had 'expired'. The mindset that leads to works of compassion, such as caring for the needs of others, and the mindset that culminates in the utter condemnation of others, are so diametrically opposed to each other that a person must choose two entirely different paths. Will he practise the practical application of Jesus' teaching on compassion, alleviating the suffering around him? Or will he preach that the suffering is deserved, and so we are to do nothing to alleviate it? And which path would Jesus Christ himself have us choose?
From those with "superior" knowledge of Scripture everyone will go to Hell but them. Now we're being told, by those who assure us that their knowledge of the Bible is far superiour to ours, that if Harry Potter existed he'd be hell bound because he uses magic. If rhat be the case, wouldn't Green Lantern be in the same predicament? Oh, sure, the power ring and battery are supposed to be artifacts of an advanced technology, but simple look at the stuff that Hal does with it shows that it's nothing more or less than Green Magic.
So is GL headed for the Hot Place, or is he to be let off because his magic isn't referred to as "witchcraft" or "wizardry"?
And while we're at it, how about Iron Man and his magic suit (tell me that flying around like that without any fuel or reaction mass isn't magic), or Spiderman squirting spider webs from his wrists (and not being arrested for littering New York with 'em), worst of all, Superman doing all kinds of magical stuff (no broomstick necessary for him, norsirreebob!). They all gonna fry? I mean, hey, if magic is wrong for poor old Harry, it ought to be just as wrong for anyone else.
My bad, how could I miss thatCorrection: knowledge of the KING JAMES VERSION. Every other version sends you to the Pit along with Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman, Fartman, etc.
Oh relax. Were having fun with those so serious that they are scared of having any fun and stay sour all the time because they think they are holier than all the rest of usThis is a Theology forum, right, Christian's Only discussion...?
Is Hell such an unimportant, casual topic for most of you all, here? What's with that?

I wouldn't think you would since it is about youThis is a Theology forum, right, Christian's Only discussion...?

I would agree with that alsoWell while we're on superheroes which cartoon characters are bound for glory? Certainly Fosters Home for Imaginary friends deserves limbo at LEAST.

Also, the Green Lantern clearly teaches young people that if they wear green and a ring they can project green energy. Clearly diabolical here. After all, isn't green the color of envy?
