If there is only one God, is it right to acknowledge Him, believe in Him, and honor Him as the one and only true God? If it is, then to not do these things would be wrong.

This partial post, in another thread, prompted this thought:

If humans are made in the image of god, surely god is a woman because only women can creata and nourish new life.

So, is god a man?

How do you know?

No. God is not a man.
By the same token God is not a woman either.
God is God.

Concepts like male and female are only meaningful when talking about sexual creatures; God is neither sexual nor creature.

To speak of God as male or female is like talking about what the music of Mozart smells like. It's categorical nonsense.

The concept of the Divine Image has nothing to do with what we look like, or our attributes. But rather our purpose and function within the created order. Humanity was created to reflect the Divine glory, to be as mirror shining God's goodness throughout the rest of creation.

Okay. Got it.

Humans are not made in the exact image of god.

The bible is in error on this point, I guess.

Or maybe I am interpreting it wrong?

Your interpreting it wrong.

As I said, the concept of being created in God's image is about function, not appearance. God doesn't have hands, eyes, a nose, or a mouth, a body of any kind, etc.

Us being created in God's image doesn't mean we are miniature versions of God, but rather that God has created a creature to reflect Himself.

Thanks for that.

I am wondering when I will be interpreting things wrong/right?

Things are different in the spiritual realm then there are in the physical realm. In the physical realm we are known as man or woman because of the different genitalia that each member of the opposite sex has. In the spiritual realm we would be masculine and feminine beings because we don't have those body parts in the spiritual realm. The angels in Heaven are constantly referred to as masculine beings, and God himself is a masculine being because the Bible says so. Also when God made man in his image he made Adam a man first, and then made female from male literally by taking a rib from Adam's rib. So in short man came from God, and woman came from man.

So men literally have one less ribs than women?

I am confused.

No not at all God made a man first which was Adam, and then God made a woman named Eve. God could of made Eve the way he made Adam, but of course God always has his ways of doing things and so he literally made a woman from a man by taking a rib from Adam, and then formed Eve's body from the rib that God took from Adam. If you are still confused then here is the passage:

18Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” 19 So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. 20 He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.

21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs[c] and closed up the opening. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

23 “At last!” the man exclaimed.

“This one is bone from my bone,
and flesh from my flesh!
She will be called ‘woman,’
because she was taken from ‘man.’”

24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one."- Genesis 18-24

Thanks. I try to rely on the bible for answers to these questions.

The problem is that I misunderstand and misinterpret it at times.

As I said above, I am wondering when I will be interpreting things in the right way?

Look for the truth of the statement. If it doesn't make sense then you don't understand it and you should not believe it. If you can't understand it, yet you believe it, then you are inviting people to despise you. This is different again from being able to verify the validity of what it says. This is about understanding it, recognizing it as being true, and sharing your new understanding of truth with the people you meet.

Pray to the Holy Spirit to reveal the meaning of your question, and in time he will reveal it.
