Is Evanescence a Christian band or not?

Hold on here, I did not say I did. Just the things I have seen do no exactly lead me to believe that she is. Pm me if you want them
I don't need them, I know about the band well enough, and have probably heard the same things you have. It just intrigues me that unless you know her personally, and have spent time with her on a daily basis and really gotten to KNOW her, that you could make that assumption. Seems suspect, but also typical, to me.

Not typical of you, btw, because I don't know you personally, but typical of Christianity in general that thinks they can read an article, or see an interview, and suddenly have this great epiphany of who a person is or isn't.

The band has come out and said they do not want to involve themselves in the "christian industry and culture" and frankly I can't blame them. The drummer is a Christian as well he used to be in Living Sacrifice.

Oh good Lord, here we go again........

Do you like their music? Or are you just trying to ride the fine line between what is CONSIDERED "Christian" and "Secular" by the general public?

why are you being so...I can't think of nice word to describe what I want to say. I was just wondering whether or not they were a Christian band so don't act like I am being so ridiculous by asking the question.

And yes, i like their music.

Well, it seems that within the confines of CF, everyone is soooo concerned about whether or not certain bands are 'Christian' or 'secular', as if to say that if a Christian by some great chance DID like a 'secular' band, they'd spontaneously burst into flames. If you like the band, like the band. Don't be so concerned as to what their personal beliefs are. It seems to me that that is where personal discernment would come in. You'd like them either way, I would think, so why does it matter if they are a "Christian" band or not. I mean, if you are simply curious, then I apologize, but it seems like the bulk of threads in here are filled with these questions, and if the answer is 'secular', well, then we need to not touch it with a 10 ft. pole, because if it's not sacred, it can't possibly be enjoyed. That's all I'm saying.

i haven't been sure for a long time whether Ev. was Christian or not... but what really got me... was that no matter what I did... it seemed all I could do WAS get GOD out of their music... even if they didn't try to put God in it... it just seems that's all I can get outta them... Maybe I just have a heart that just happens to find Christ in everything? oh well... if the music touches you... and moves you toward Christ... go for it... if not... well... that's up to your own convictions...

I have trouble calling anyone involved with Living Sacrifice "great"

So do I if it's anyone other than Rocky Gray. Or is that Grey? Rocky is seriously a phenominally talented musician. He is, in my opinion, the main reason that band existed. You can cast speculation on the other band members, but Rocky is an amazing talent. There are bands out there in the Christian, and even secular, rock scene that owe Rocky a considerable debt for helping them jump-start their careers. Second to none, without a doubt.

I just got a sense of deja vu. Hasn't this been discussed before some numerous times? You might want to consider reviving some of the old topics that might be lying around.

BTW, I enjoy their music ;)

I enjoy their music too! I got to see them in concert this past summer which was really awesome. My cousin works at the amphitheater they came to, so we were able to get 8th row seats in the center! It was awesome!

Not trying to drift the thread, or bash, but giving credit to the success of a band that was around for 10+ years to the only member that was with them for 2 years is a bit of a stretch. They were great long before Rocky came along, contrary to whatever tripe Theory says.:p
