Naah I dont think so either. They are just afraid that all the christian kids will start freakin up in the school dance. They just wanna keep some morals in your highschool so they throw away some of your freedoms. Dont get the perception that dancing is evil though, theres nothing wrong with it.

Dancing is a great way for men and women to interact in a way that allows them to get to know each other, as well as many others from the opposite sex without any obligation to date. I especially refer to ballroom dancing.

Well, I was at a church dance. It was non-alcoholic, of course. And it was very inspirational. I loved it. I actually broke a toe dancing that night. I think it's because I was wearing cowboy boots while doing a massive guitar hop. The dance was pretty cool and even my drive to the hospital.

I have to say that I have mixed feelings on this subject. I have been to all types of dances, and I would say that it depends upon the type of people that are surrounding you. If the dancing is kept innocent, then I think that it is pleasing to the Lord, but now a days it can get quite provocative.(which may be one of the reasons that it has been kept out of the school). Keep good company and all should be good!

You have to define dancing, here. Some [edit] I meant "Most" [/edit] dancing falls quite comfortably in either the category of 'carousing' or merely 'demon-possessed', though the latter is not as prevalent. The carousing dancing is all over, though.

dancing is not of the devil because the devil cannot create, only subvert. So actually dancing came from God and then sometimes is gets subverted by people who are not looking to glorify God with their bodies either by dancing, singing, playing music etc. All these things are just tools, they cannot be evil in themselves, it depends on how they are used and for what purpose.

kiwi, that is a very very smart statement. thank you for that!
i do believe dancing is a great thing. i have been to nightclubs before where there is very little sensuality between the opposite sex, besides couples. I have also been to night clubs that play rap music, and i have seen some acts that only a husband and wife should ever engage in. just first hand wickedness and lust of the world.i believe very much of it depends on the music. what you put into your mind is what is going to reflect in your actions, just look at the most popular rap music, and the after effects on peoples vocabulary, anger, views of sex, and of power. i do believe that rap music is a great tool of destruction when used incorrectly. but back to dancing. very seldom have i really let my guard down during worship, and danced like a do when my favorite dj comes into town. however, i know that dancing is biblical, and it is pleasing to the Lord. in some of the highest of our moments of worship we can't help but leap and shout at how awesome God is! and rightfully so! really it comes down to are we dancing with joy to the songs that bring the world glory?

in my school (private christian) we didnt have prom but we had winter formal, because they said dancing was bad. is dancing really of the devil? i {personaly} dont think so.

If you are a Christian, you can't beleive that dancing in and of it self is of the devil.

Here's why:

Did Jesus Dance?

I was asked this question the other day by one of my co-workers.

My response was,

Jesus was born and raised Jewish.
Dance is a part of the Jewish religious and social culture.
If Jesus did not dance, He would have insulted his father, his mother, his rabbi, and the people of his community. I am sure Jesus danced at his barmizfa, at Hanukkah, at The Feast of Tabernacles, at The Feast of the Pass Over, at weddings, ECT... If he attended theses events; and he did, he danced!

As Christians, many of us have lost this as a part of our religious culture. We prohibit our natural inclination to dance for God.

But, the Hebrew people do not!
We should preserve this part of our religious culture and not deny it!
I am convinced that Jesus danced for God!
And, I am convinced that the Angels dance for God!
So should we!

There is Power in dancing for God!
My prayer is that all of you reading this forum discover this power!
Ps149:3-9

God Bless,
Minister Richelle

Jewish dancing is men dancing with men, women dancing with women. No hint of sensuality in the dancing. Compare. Surely we, as Christians, can see the difference between Godly dancing and (modern) "social" dancing.
