What colour or race were Adam and Eve. Could it be that we all originated from Adam and Eve. How then we have Africans, Asians, Europeans, Americans, Jews, Arabians etc?
The Jewish (Judea) and the Arab people are descended from Adam and Eve in the Bible. This represents the Sons of Abraham with Sarah and with Hagar the Egyptian. (Isaac - Ishmael) One represents the spirit and freedom, the other represents the Law and bondage. The Church is adopted into the family of God. They are the natural tree and we are the branches grafted in.

"They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you either." Romans 11:21,22

There is a Science Adam and Eve that everyone was descended from but this does not seem to be the same Adam and Eve that we read about in the Bible. One is a shadow and a type of the other. Just like Noah's flood is a shadow and a type of a world wide flood that took place 200 million years before he was born. We see try land on the third day and man on the sixth day.

We are getting very close to where the whole human family tree will be mapped out. For around $100 people can take a test to see just who they are descended from. Asians for example from China are called the Han family. They are descended from the Empire in Beijing and from Genghis Khan. These were two rich families that had money and food to produce lots of children with lots of wives. Right now it is believed that there are 19 women around the world that most everyone is descended from. In China the women are represented by a city. Hong kong, Shanghai, Bejing and so on. Each city or each women is said to have their own personality. The cantonese for example are said to be the tiger women. There are five main dialectical groups, of which Mandarin is only one. This makes up about 90% of the asian people.

The Bible talks about Adam and Eve and Eden. This is what Science calls a biodiverse eco system. In China they have their own ecology and their own eden. The Asian people like sour food and in the East they like sweet food. They eat rice as their main grain and in the East they eat wheat as their main grain. In the new world they ate a lot of corn and potatoes or potato like roots.

Everyone began in Africa around 40,000 years ago they developed the sewing needle, fishing hook and fishing nets. This allowed them to come up out of africa because they were able to feed themselves fish along the way and they were able to sew warm clothing so they could handle the colder climate as they moved north. They mostly followed the water and the rivers. Civilization began in the rich and fertile valley between the Tigris and Euphrates river and also we had early civilizations in places like the rich delta land of the Nile River in Egypt. They man learned how to irrigate the land with water so they could grow more food and feed more people and civilization began to grow.

It is not covered in scripture. So we have no absolute answer to go by.

But we do know that skin tone is covered by 2 different pairs of genes and they are in mixed dominance. (meaning that even changing one will affect the overall outcome) They are usually referred to as A and B. There are 2 versions of each. You inherit one of each from your mom and from your dad.

IF you are AABB, your skin will be extremely dark. (like from equatorial Africa) If you are aabb, you will be extremely light skinned. (like a Scandinavian) If you are AaBb, you will be a medium-dark skin tone like Persians or Arabs. Probably Adam and Eve were both AaBb which would allow in subsequent generations every possible combination yielding about 16 different skin tones.

But then there is the story in Gen 11 of the Tower of Babel where God separated out the languages. It is possible that God also changed our DNA at that point to further divide us by skin tone. But if that is so, then we would have no clue what skin tone Adam was.

It is certainly possible for all color variations to exist and come from a simple beginning.

If you will forgive me for a moment in comparing humans to animals, since we are talking biology, consider our domestic cats? We have white, black, cream, blue-gray, orange, red, calico, pointed (like Siamese) in many colors, tabby-striped in many colors, blotched, ticked, spotted, and so on. Yet we do not see these in wild cats. Wild cats are always uniform in their color, and the species that was domesticated to create all of our wide variety of domestic cats were probably sandy-colored only.

When you consider dogs, even more genetic variation exists. Although they too likely came from animals that looked like each other, and like all the other wild dogs out there, we now have variations not only in even more colors and patterns than cats, but huge variations in size, shape, ear type, muzzle length, behavioral tendencies, lifespan, hair length, even numbers of toes. All of that from wild dogs that all looked the same as each other.

So it's very easy to see that it is possible.

Human skin tone is a matter of natural selection as a result of migration and settlement into other parts of the globe. Here's a map that shows human skin tone as a gradient across the globe:

It's important to notice a couple of things going on here:

Human populations furthest from the equator and in areas that receive less ultraviolet light year round tend toward lighter skin tones. While human populations closest to the equator and who receive more ultraviolet light year round tend toward darker skin tones.

While "race" as a social construct doesn't just include human skin color, it is a major part of it; but it is important to understand here that "white" and "black" are social constructs, the reality is that human skin color is a gradient. "White" refers, primarily, to lighter-skinned Europeans (and their descendants), even though there are light-skinned people groups elsewhere; likewise "black" refers, primarily, to darker-skinned Africans (and their modern descendants) even though there are dark-skinned people groups elsewhere.

Recognizing race as a social construct rather than an inbuilt one is essential. There is no such thing as a "white race" or a "black race" in nature or human biology, these things exist purely as man-made social constructs.

The leading, and currently best evidenced, theory is the out of Africa hypothesis: that all modern human beings out of Africa descend from several waves of migration out of Africa which occurred tens of thousands of years ago, not all at once, but in waves. And, in fact, genetic studies show that if we test human mitochondrial DNA (DNA which is passed down from the mother) we can trace our most recent common ancestor to a woman who lived in Africa between 100 and 200 thousand years ago; and when we test descent through the Y-chromosome we can trace our most common ancestor to a man who lived in Africa about 200-300 thousand years ago.

So going purely by biology and genetic research, the most recent common ancestor of all human beings, whether through mitochondrial DNA or the Y-chromosome results in someone from Africa, so "black" by all accounts. So if you want an answer based on human biology our biological "Adam and Eve"--our most recent common ancestor--was black and from Africa.

But if the question is what color was the skin of the Biblical Adam and Eve, well that's impossible to know. If you believe the biblical Adam and Eve were real people in history, then I suppose any guess works, I really don't know how one would go about trying to answer that. But if we understand Adam and Eve to not be literal people, but characters in a story that isn't intended to be read literally but is about informing us theologically about the problems of sin and death, then the color of their skin is entirely meaningless, they could be purple, as it has no bearing on the purpose or meaning of the story of man's fall from grace and our need of redemption in Christ Jesus.

the information in this post appears to do away with the creation story of Genesis. If that is true can any other stories in the bible be believed?

The only thing that is done away is the traditions of man.
"Thus you nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down." Mark 7:13

We have a lot more scientific information today then Bishop Ussher had in the 1500's and our understanding of the Bible should reflect what is now known about Science and also what is known about ancient history.

I believe that Adam and Eve in the Bible were real people that lived around 6,000 years ago in the Tigris Euphrates River Valley in an area that is now believed to be UNDER the Persian Gulf, north of the Straits of Hormuz.

The opening to the Persian Gulf was described, but not given a name, in the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, a 1st-century mariner's guide:

"At the upper end of these Calaei islands is a range of mountains called Calon, and there follows not far beyond, the mouth of the Persian Gulf, where there is much diving for the pearl-mussel. To the left of the straits are great mountains called Asabon and to the right there rises in full view another round and high mountain called Semiramis; between them the passage across the strait is about six hundred stadia; beyond which that very great and broad sea, the Persian Gulf, reaches far into the interior. At the upper end of this gulf there is a market-town designated by law called Apologus, situated near Charaex Spasini and the River Euphrates."

Hi, Oloche this question relates to my question of how did Cain go to Nod and take a wife. If all are from Adam and Eve. The only explanation that I have found is there are two creation stories in Genesis. The first on the 5th day. The second was after God rested He created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden.

However this still raises the question Are we all related to Noah after the flood? If so then yes we are related to Adam and Eve because Noah was.
