You should date someone for who they are, not what they look like. If you like them as a person, then date them. If you do not, then don't. If they just happen to be attractive, then good for you, but you shouldn't be seeking out and dating people for the sole or primary reason of a physical attraction.

It doesn't matter if you lust, every man/woman will its the way our body is programmed, the new testament tries to make a point that the two natures never reconcile

only thing we are instructed to do is pray that we do not fall into temptation - doing things that we will actually be judged for. Lust is nothing more than an urge.

suppressing it, ignoring it, avoiding it are solutions that come from mans fallen mind and do not work

People do... for their personality..
i used to not think this guy was physically attractive but i really liked his personality.. then he started becoming physically attractive to me (donno what happened) and we were together for about 2 years... and we are still friends.

Look I had a crush on a girl in high school, and yes she was hot to me. A lot of other feelings had manifested as well, but as a teenager I could not define them. All I know is that my heart was aflutter when taking to her. I had a perma-grin on. I wanted to be around her, and also was bashful to actually do it. I am sure there were some physical attraction involved as well. It's subjective when it comes to "looks."
Teenagers cannot completely explain their 'crushes.'

Is a crush a sin??? NO and there is no biblical support to affirm that it is a sin.
A crush is not lust in the technical definition of it.
A crush can lead to lust in an undisciplined mind. ALL teenagers have undisciplined minds, but do their crushes turn to lust? I am sure yes some do.
THAT is when it morphs into sin. The average teen will not even recognize that. Good youth pastors can help with these feelings...but if one tells a child that their crush is a sin should be fired.

The big question is whether or not we incorporate the word "lust" to be the same as the word "Desire" if we do then we are taught that the desire for the things of the Spirit and spiritual aspects of things is not bad, but is a good thing, words concepts like faith, joy happiness, hope, love, joy, kindness, compassion, knowing and practicing righteousness and seeking out justice and most of all real, true love...

All the the while seeking out to be and do these things with a meek, mild, humble, showing humility, kind, generous heart, soul, mind and spirit, and in a mate, seeking out the these things of the spirit of/in a person and desiring that in them, and being attracted to or drawn to these things in them, the desire for companionship, friendship and someone to share your life with and seek out and concentrate on seeking out (desiring) all the good things of the spirit together, in this case it is considered "desire" and not "lust"....

Desires of the spirit and looking at someone, so as to desire them from a spiritual point-of-view is not wrong or condemned, however having fleshly eyes and seeking longing to fulfill the desires of the flesh alone, is lust and is condemned and explained as to what these are in many, many different places throughout the Bible...

^ This. I agree with this. I think though that too many people get into this without realizing that it's sinful, even Christians...

As long a it doesn't turn into a strong purely sexual urge, before considering marriage, it's not a sin, a childlike crush for example may be something a simple, as saying "I like it when he she wants to hold hands, or sit by me, or sits next to me, close to me, and may get embarrased or red in the face if someone else point out that they like this about him/her but the child isn't thinking of sex yet, that comes later on....

Of course it is. that's James 1:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed (satan's part of the process).

However there's no "SIN" yet until:

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

so a "Crush" isn't necessarily a "Spiritual problem" - depending on what you DO about it.

As the Old Preacher said: "You can't keep the birds from flying overhead, but you CAN stop them from building a nest in your hair".

Well said, but is the act of pursuing or seeking out a relationship with the person then lust, or does it become lust when you start holding hands, or maybe then leads to hugs and then maybe leads to kissing, and then finally when it leads to the point of having sex, at which point does it become lust?, or how, (at which point) does the pursuit of it (the desire) become wrong, or sin?

I guess it would depend on the true motives and reasons behind the pursuit, (As i kinda explained in post #26 of this thread), http://www.christianforums.com/t7810555-3/#post65201742, Is it to fall in love with them spiritually and in a spiritual way/fashion with spiritual concerns in mind, or falling in love/lust with the way a person looks with the motives of seeking out to fulfill the desires of the flesh, and the flesh alone huh...?

Come on we all know in the Bible Is not talking about crushes it Is specifically addressing lust...Sexual degenerate and deliberate.
Some say A crush is lust well in that case the crush is a sin no if ands or buts...We have to be consistent when we say things.

See down this post for my view. Basically, if looks have anything to do with your fondness for that person, even if it is only 0.001% of your attraction, it is still lust. Since lust = sin, then 90% of crushes are sinful because in my view most crushes are based on physical attraction or a sexual desire.

Someone that you're physically attracted too, of course. From there, it can easily morph outward from a physical attraction (already bad in itself) and lust to sexual attraction and lust. From there you're at the point of no return.

I think this sums up my view of the subject. If the crush is based on a physical attraction to the person in question (and it usually is) then I would consider it to be lust and thus sinful. But if it's because of their personality then I'd say it's okay as long as the person's looks are not involved. If they are, even 0.001%, then I'd reconsider your motives for being with that person, as it is probably lustful.

Not sin conscious, just never really understood the definition of lust, some people over do it and some under do it.
