If a christian has undiagnosed mental illness, say, for example, bipolar and is acting inappropriately as a believer(living in adultery, no longer trusting in the Lord, following their own unhealthy lusts and obsessions, are they still answerable to God for their ongoing behaviior, or excused due to mental health issue?

Is a christian still answerable for their sins/behaviour if they have a mental illness that's driving them to sin without conviction?

We are accountable for what we know ... not for what we do not know .... only the Lord knows the heart and if it is willful disobedience or not.
It would seem to me if one did for a period of time did turn away from sin and now gave into sin .... they know the difference.
Really, we all have mental issues ..... that is why we need the Lord to help us to change our thinking.
The way God changes our thinking is through His Word. If we don't include it in our daily lives then our thinking will drift back into sinning. We need to walk with Him continuously.

Moses had a disability. God used him as servant of God.
Romans chapter 5:12. We all sin. Jesus was crucified so Christian people can repent and find forgiveness.
There's a age of accountability.
Isaiah 7:15
Genesis 2:17
Christian people have a responsibility to Repent.
Ephesians chapter 2:8. Those of limited mental capacity, such as infants or mentally disabled, may be saved by grace without such understanding.

Mental illness is an excuse that didn't exist until very recently. People accepted & had trust that change for the good can happen, so seek help regardless.
