  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The only Irish punk I can think of is Flatfoot 56.
As far as ska is concerned, there's the big three: Five Iron Frenzy, The O.C. Supertones, and The Insyderz. Some smaller (mostly defunct) ones are The 13th Tribe, buckledown, The Skadaddles, Not For The Crowd, Freeto Boat, and BUCK.

I haven't heard of Irish punk before, but I do know alot of ska-punk and ska bands from back in the day. Supertones and Five Iron Frenzy were the longest living so you should be able to find their stuff pretty easily. BUCK who was known as BUCK Enterprises in their last few years. Flight 180 was one of my favorites. the Insyderz became famous for their Skalleuia! cds. Other good names: Mayfair Lundry, Honeylocust, B.O.B. [Bunch of Believers]. and tons & tons of their small ska bands that use to be around but I doubt you find their stuff these days.

Flatfoot 56 is decent for a kind of celtic punk sound. Better than them was Ballydowse (who's cds are impossible to find at Christian Bookstores now, but should be readily availible online)... who released two cds.

There was also the Electrics, though they were kind of cheesy.

Ballydowse was alright. Not my favorite, though.

There's also a band called Calebretto (sp?) 13. I'm not quite sure if they're ska or not... it's been awhile since I've heard the cd. But, nonetheless, great band! xD

Calibretto 13 was known as acoustic punk.
