• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi Folks,

Wanted to get involved here and thought an intro would be in order.

My name is David, I'm 56 and have a ton of chronic illness and some other things that are quite surprising at first glance.

I'm a recovering alcoholic/drug addict of with 31 years of sobriety. When I retired from the military I was diagnosed with Hep C. Started to go into brain fog and REALLY reduced energy almost right away. Am still energy handicapped today needing naps, feeling tired and fatigued a lot, and not being able to accurately predict when I will have energy or how much.

Sleep disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, some exotic viruses and then Leukemia and a benign tumor in the pancreas followed.

I'm justifiably disabled but I believe some miracles have occurred in my life and wanted to mention them.

Although a lot of my friends have died of hep c mine is disable except that I have the symptoms.

The CFS is stable but I still have the symptoms.

The most beautiful thing is that God took the terminal leukemia and put it in remission and also took the pancreatic tumor and hasn't let it grow or worse. My sobriety is a gift from above and like hep c, so many have died but I was granted a reprieve.

When I look at how my life could have ended a long time ago, and the bounty the Lord has provided to me and my family, I can only believe that God has let me live a while longer on this planet to work for Him. I was called into ministry during all these disease processes and what other reason could there be?

Although I look forward to going to heaven one day, I am honored that God not only let's me work for Him but He's given me a solid reason for existence and the best job I've ever had.

I was never able to say that I really loved any job I held before. But I can truly say that I love working for God.

Faithfully,
