'Catholicism for Dummies' is a good start.

Yea, Bob the catechism teacher gave me that book. :D

My efforts to join the Catholic Church have failed, but as a catechumen in the Orthodox Church went very well. . .

I wouldn't use that book for serious inquirers. . .

I totally agree with all of the above recommedations and if after reading the above or even during the reading the above you feel so inclined to learn more I would suggest you contact the nearest Catholic parish priest to you and ask him about it.:crossrc:

I'm very glad that my RCIA instructor had us read the Catechism, but I'll admit it's not exactly light reading. For most people, I would recommend the Compendium of the Cathechism, which condenses it a bit.

Being a big Peter Kreeft fan, I also like to recommend his Catholic Christianity.
