Anyone know what the Inteprid Luthernas Blog/group is all about? And why was a WELS pastor recently suspended?
I don't keep up with the WELS news these days.

Yes.

Inteprid Luthernas Blog/group is all about?
It is a group that was started up by a small group of WELS pastors \ teachers \ lay ministers who are attempting (in their pov) to bring the WELS back to more of their historical roots rather than what they deem as the WELS becoming more liberal in certian ways but also commend the WELS for holding to the traditional historical postions.

So they present articles about certian topics which they feel is either in agreement to the historical roots of WELS that WELS is holding to or articles against certain postions they feel WELS is not.

They however are not the darlings of some pastors in the WELS ... being that one of the princible pastors of Interpid is from the disctrict I belong to and I know that the pastor to where I belong to has opposed him in their blog.

And why was a WELS pastor recently suspended?
This will probably go unanswer because:

1. it's too vague of a question
2. anytime such action does happen, there is more gossip floating around than facts

I looked at the blog and recognized one name; a pastor I am familiar with and who many times complained about the "liberalism" in WELS, yet he was not willing to leave...

Interesting. Do you read the one that's in the together link or do you read a different one? I know my hubby usually gets a different, more detailed report than what is published, but I've never read that one.

Yeah I missed that. I asked hubby if he had heard anything and he said no. Of course, they usually don't share details, either.

I also saw on that report that our old church is still trying to call someone part time.

I can't remember if it was the latest report or the one before that..but you can find it online I'm sure.
Yeah I've noticed your old church on the reports for a looooong time, and always think of you! Even when I have a year or so long break from CF!
(I read the reports to stay updated as I know several pastors and teachers, it's sorta non-gossipy gossip!)

Think of the avg WELS pew sitter who doesn't have the option of going in a 20 mile radius and having their pick from several different WELS congregations or ELS. Where do they go...

But that also could be why some of the pastors do not care for those pastors who are involved Intrepid,....as PreachersWife2004 said:

I (for the most part) disagree with Intrepid, but call it " conspiracy theorist" \ "skeptics" \ "disgruntled" but why do you think there are some people who think that WELS is no less guilty of "image control" \ being "non-transparent" \ .... so they suspect that they're not getting the true picture of what is occurring within WELS. So I'm not surprised that sites like Intrepid exits.

I however am not going to not say that "liberalism" isn't happening either.

Basically, the small WELS church in let's say Alabama doesn't have a clue what the "big guys" in Milwaukee are up to. (And most of those who do have an idea, seem to "forget it" so they don't have to deal with it..)

Some of the worst stuff we've seen comes straight outta WI. The pastors in our district/conference here are pretty even keeled. Some probably tend more towards the conservative side than anything. We had a pastor in this area awhile back who was somewhat liberal in his views, especially on fellowship.

If y'all think Intrepid Lutherans is "bad", you should read the blog titled Ichabod the Glory has Left the Building. Holy schmoly. Intrepid gets it somewhat right somewhat most of the time, but Ichabod enjoys the smear campaigns and conspiracy theory almost as much as I enjoy Manischewitz. Often I am reminded of a witch hunt, and when Joel Hochmuth was facing child pornography charges they went off on a tangent that I am still ashamed of. While I abhor what Mr. Hochmuth did, I am still reminded that I am a sinner, too, in need of God's forgiveness. The writers at Ichabod seem to have forgotten about that in their need to castigate everyone they hate so much.

I hear ya, I tend to not even bother reading Ichabod anymore. Intrepid isn't bad per se, but the way to author change isn't through the means they're using. Too many people like the anonymity that the internet gives them so it's easier to be frustrated in a blog (even when using one's real name) than it is to talk to their pastor, or the circuit pastor. Of course, when one believes the entire upper echelon of the WELS is corrupt, then it does make "talking" more difficult, and in that case they should leave the WELS.

As far as I know, the contributing authors at Ichabod have left the WELS, but that's second hand information.
