Ok, let's say you're about 2 decades praying the Rosary and something happens that requires you to stop completely. For example, your baby just woke up from her nap and is screaming to get out of the crib, or a very important phone call, etc., etc. So then what do you do? Do you start all over again later when you have your free moment again - or do you just resume where you left off?

I guess the real question is this: assuming a good amount of time has passed (all in the same day), can you just continue a Rosary from where you stopped - or do you have to start all over again?

Thanks. :)

I've always just resumed where I was when interrupted (treating it like I would a distraction--just get back to what I was doing.) Watch now while people who know better than me explain that I am wrong, wrong, wrong.

My spiritual father said you can pray any decade of the rosary randomly in the day - for example: you're busy at work all day, you can pray a one decade whilst you get a chance throughout the day until it makes up for five. Basically he says it doesn't matter whether you stop due to an interruption, or perhaps because you have to work or something as long as you're focusing on the prayers and the mysteries. And he's a Traditional Catholic! So I think you're in safe hands here

Thanks for the responses everyone. :)

It seems then its generally fine to resume at a later time if one gets interrupted. That's good to know. I would probably start over again if a full day passed though.
That works too!
If you can only pray one decade a day, you could dedicate stretches of days to the rosary.
There is no one mandatory way to pray it individually or even in a group.

That's good to hear. :) Sometimes I get discouraged to pray the rosary because I know I'll be interrupted and I've often thought that an interrupted rosary wouldn't count. So I just wouldn't bother praying it at all. After awhile the heart longs to say those Hail Mary's.

Lol!! You're wrong wrong wrong! So there. Altho I don't know why!! Lol. I agree with your post. One thing that bothers me, I have two people who upon entering the room where I am praying the Rosary will start chating with me. grrrrr. I was always taught to respect the privacy of those in prayer. Is it ignorance of just these two or generally of their generation?

Whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do ~ there is no right or wrong in prayer.
People get caught up in novenas ~ time of day/# of days etc; what matters is the habit of prayer and your intention in prayer = union with God.

Making a Morning offering is a great way to dedicate your day to the Lord ~ thoughts, words and deeds ~ then it ALL becomes PRAYER; even in the interruptions

Don't be discouraged  there is no deadline or list to be completed.
St Therese of Lisieux often FELL ASLEEP during the Rosary ;)
The important thing is TO PRAY OFTEN....just lifting your heart to the Lord, or asking Mary's blessing on your child care.
Those little loving aspirations mean MORE then a whole Rosary prayed just to say you prayed it!

Keep praying it ~ one Hail Mary at a time ~ may God bless you in His Merciful Love :crossrc:

^_^^_^ I've done that a few times--when I wake up, the beads have made an indent in my hand.....^_^
