  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you guys have any tips/suggestions for interpretive dancing? I've always admired it... especially in church. I'd like to do a performance to one of my favorite songs ("Tremble" by Nichole Nordeman) during a service. But... I've never done it before. Any ideas?

I would suggest using a combination of sign language and large movements.

Visit this web-site for Christian sign language movements:

www.jireh.demon.co.uk/signstart.htm

1) Write down the action words in your song.

2) Find the sign language movements for the action words of your song.

3) Make these sign language movements larger and more dramatic then the average sign language conversation!

4) Always try to make the action words as literal a possible so that your audience can understand the meaning of your dance.

5) Add turns, jumps and kicks in the appropriate places.

*Example: If the song say's "He lifted me", use the sign for redeemed but start by kneeling on the ground and rising up or jumping up, which ever is in harmony with your music.

Remember that the most important thing is to Make God's Word as clear and as bold as possible to your audience.

6) Facial expressions are vital in interpretive or literal choreography.

Your facial expressions must be in line with the emotions of your song. You must characterize the dance!

Study other forms of dance and watch how the choreographers say certain things through dance. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in what movements would be best.

Pray :crosseo:

And let God do the rest!
