  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have you ever done something like this? Lets say you have what appears to be a cold, but you can't seem to shake it so you decide to go to the doctor tomorrow. Well, you have a little free time this afternoon and decide to surf the net looking for possibilities. Cold like symptoms............sure enough, I've got a cold. But wait, here is something more serious that has the same symptoms, and after more searching you find yet another and another, each more serious than the first. Well thank goodness this last one says you have to have itchy eyes, because it looks like a killer for sure! What is that? UH OH! My eye itches! Nevermind that I've been staring at the monitor for over an hour without blinking, I MUST have Rheumatoid Skeletal Valve Palpitation! OH NO, NOT RSVP! It says right here on my super duper fluxcapacitor.com search engine that at most I have 30 days to live if its in the advanced stage! I have eye itches, it MUST be in the advanced stage. I better call my family and close friends to let them know, but I just can't bring myself to talk right now, the shock is too much to bear. I should just fire off a couple e-mails to tell them whats up. E-mails sent. You think about who should get what belongings, what arrangements should be made for the funeral, etc etc. How could it all be over, and so soon? You manage to sleep 2 hours that night and show up at the doctors office before it opens. You tell them that you have RSVP. Well, why do you think you have RSVP? Well I have all these cold like symptoms, and my eyes started itching during my super duper fluxcapacitor.com internet search, so I KNOW that I have it. Just give it to me straight Doc how long do I have? Well, as best I can tell, many many healthy and happy years? HUH? What? I need a second opinion, whats going on here? Well, you have the common cold, get some rest and drink plenty of clear fluids.

Hmmmmmmmm, I sure wish I wouldn't have over reacted and told everyone that I was terminal with RSVP. I might have some explaining to do.

Of course that is a slight exaggeration, but does that happen to anybody else? When something bad comes up, do you always think its going to be SO bad, but it turns out to be far less than expected?

That's funny, the way you describe it. But when I was sitting at the computer trying to figure out what was wrong with me, it sure wasn't funny then! Turns out all I had was asthma. Serious, sure, but not as bad as what I'd thought!

Sure does, more often than I'd like to admit. But I rationalize: if I expect the worst, and that doesn't happen, then how blessed am I?

ROFL, BB! I'm glad you bounced back from a terminal case of RSVP to tell us about this. ^_^

One time, I had some mysterious and persistent pain and after poring over various medical books, I'd convinced myself I had the "c" word -- cancer. I swear, I was so distraught, :swoon:I got down on my knees and bargained with God... Fortunately, it ended up being a manageable condition. :sorry:

Didn't someone once say, "The worst things in my life never actually happened"?

OKay, I have to share this with ya'll, last year sometime I was outside after supper and started having these "chest pains"... so I come inside but the pains get worse! Convincing myself I might be having heart trouble, I jumped in my car and raced off to the E.R.

Well about half-way there I let out this big belch and what do you know, the pains miraciously disappeared!!! ^_^

Yes, I have looked on the internet for physical symptoms and had myself believing I a few things. Sometimes I don't even believe my doctor anymore. I am tired of going to doctors. I have had some real illnesses I had to go for and it's always best to get the best doctor available.

I almost pictured myself doing that :D

honestly, I guess I'm to optimistic and light hearted to push my worries like that. I might worry to much about my family or close friends, but usually I take new events step by step and then try to figure out what to do one by one...

...always look on the bright side of life...
