Hi all!

I work for a secular drug and alcohol treatment facility with about 50 male clients. Recently, based on a discussion I had with a regional manager, I was presented with an opportunity to lead Bible studies with our addicted clients.

The manager said that faith is very important to recovery and I couldn’t agree more. However, another person in the office (the Compliance Officer) stated that we need to also offer services for Muslims (and I will add Catholics, if we’re to be entirely fair, as I live in a heavily Catholic area). If I find these people (i.e. a Muslim chaplain), is that denying Christ?

I don't think it would be denying Christ. In the spirit of fairness I can see why the Compliance Officer would say that. But I think it would be worth it in order to get the gospel out to some people through Bible studies.

You don't find other faith Chaplin's, all you come contact the nearest mosque, Buddhist and Hindu temples on official headed paper, to inform them there is an opportunity for them to supply's Chaplin.
Your firm personal o ' human resources' with the wual opp peon IL elect the Irwin Chaplin's.

All you zero do is to remind tho people of the importance of the right to leave a belief, something most do not recognise.

That’s a good suggestion!

I was a Chaplin at the intake jail in a major city. I grappled with your question also. I came to realize that I was part of a secular workplace where my function was to serve the inmates. That meant supplying materials for all faiths. However, I had the added blessing of being able to serve them directly through Bible studies and one on one counseling. As other inmates observed what I was doing, and how their cell mates were learning and growing, more and more started asking me questions and coming to my studies.

It's important to do the job. But it's also a great opportunity to shine light into dark places.

No, it would not be denying Christ to help those with addiction problems meet with representatives of their faith tradition.

Your feedback is very valuable, Turkle, thank you!
