  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

read part of it...argumentation seems like a waste of time. Argue for ethics without a base for ethics itself. His argument is by generalizing states by "ethical" behavior based on data gathered.

Let me clear up that christian arguments is not based on "practical" results. But logical arguments. In an atheist world view there is no transcendental argumentation for ethics...period. However we perceive the results does not matter. God's rules should be followed because he is God and must be obeyed.

BTW there is no such thing as a "christian" state or country.

Ditto that! Discussing "religion" in the abstract is pretty much a waste of time.

Also, IMHO, so much of what passes for "Christian" in the US, particularly in its more "religious" regions, owes at least as much to cultural hangovers from a mixture of New England Puritanism and Southern Redneckism as to anything found in the Bible.

At the very least, the article seems to suggest that popular religion (i.e.,religious belief that is motivated principally by what is expected by society, family, etc.) doesn't accomplish much. But, to extend that claim to sincere Christianity is a bit of a stretch.

Ditto!
