  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi. I am new to the site and have a question. I have recently been attending mass almost daily and reading as much information as I can possibly digest on Catholicism (I am currently protestant). I have been doing this for a couple of months and talked with various Catholics, Protestants, converts from both sides, and a couple of Priests. I am heavily considering converting and was wondering if anyone who has converted, or is a Catholic, has an opinion on whether it is too soon and what a good time to spend considering the option is.

It's never too early to convert. :)

I'd suggest talking to your priest and see if you can begin RCIA. It may be too late this year, since classes end at Easter and next year's classes don't start until September or so. Still, you may have the option of receiving private instruction from the priest, or spend this time studying Catholicism and attending Mass and come into the Church next year.

I agree with Paul that is is never too soon. Your daily attendance at Mass is indicative of something special. I am sure God is blessing you with special graces for your daily presence in front of the Holy Eucharist. May the Lord help you have clarity of mind, strong faith, and persevernance .:groupray:

Welcome to OBOB, if you're following a path, you can always take the next step. *S* Take your time to search for answer, but don't be afraid to take that next step. It sounds to me that in your heart you are already converting. Ask a lot of questions to everyone... and speak to the priest in your parrish about the possibilities. In the mean time... we're here to support you! (and to supporter for you as well *G*)

I only joined a little over an hour ago and I already feel so welcome and like people honestly want to help and support me. Thank you so much and may God Bless each and every one of you!
And yes, faerieeva, in my heart, I am well on my way in converting :)
