I don't find any references in the Bible that it is a sin--interracial marriages. However, Christians should not be unequally yoked with non-Christians (meaning, you shouldn't marry a non-Christian if you are a Christian...that would mean dating, too...because dating is for purposes of marriage...typically).

I am in an interracial marriage. I'm Chinese and my husband is Black. We both are Christians....LOVE Jesus.

There is no Scripture forbidding interracial marriage. In the Old Testament, the people of Israel were told not to intermarry with foreigners who would lead them into the worship of pagan gods. Sometimes people mis-use those verses as "proof" against interracial marriage, but what the verses are really prohibiting is marriage to an unbeliever.

a question that has plagued me. I don't understand why God separated us by race/flavors, however you want to put it. I don't like the word race because it is not an accurate description, there is only one race and that is the human race, we just come in different flavors, but my question has always been why we are separated by flavor? I guess it's just not for my human mind to comprehend, one day I will know the answer.

No, but the children of such a union often pay the price.

Even so, it is through the ignorance and/or hate passed through generations of backward people. Education is the key. I don't think that people should let that kind of fear hold them back from enjoying a wonderous and fruitful marriage because someone else has a chip on their shoulder. If our Christian children are going to be persecuted, they'll get it for one reason or another whether it be how they look, their parents, their morals, etc. There's no point in worrying about it really. Is there ever a child who doesn't get picked on terribly these days? I'd be hard pressed to find one....

If we look at where these flavors are geographically from, we see the skin color varies by the amount, duration and intensity of sun in that area. Nordic people have light skin to allow for vitamin D production in a very low sun environment. In mid-Africa skin colors are darker to protect the body from lots of u/v rays. At any rate, humans are compatible and we should marry the one God intends for us, be they whatever color of skin.

Although I agree with this in part, the one issue I do not fully understand is in regards to the children. My wife is Ukrainian, and her great grandma is Africian. It is possible that we could have two (and I'm no longer going to be politically correct, although I mean no disrespect) white babies and a black baby. Being aware of it, we knew before we had kids. Now I didn't remember this until now, but what if I never told my son and his son had two white kids then a black one, and he didn't know why, would that not make it hard on that family?

I suppose children do pay a price sometimes for the choices of their parents. Very, very seldom have we ever gotten comments about us or our children. We live in a "very white community" and we just joke about us being interracial.

We have gotten so many positive comments about our children that it's so overwhelming. People we know, strangers, lots of people have come up to us and think our children are so beautiful, some even wanting to hug & kiss them (very disconcerting if they are strangers). We've had photographers wanting to photograph our daughter for magazines.

Our children are both very friendly, affectionate, loving, dynamic children. People are drawn and attached to them, and they seem to brighten whatever room they are in. Our daughter is nearly 4 yrs old, very articulate and smart. I'm not even sure most people even care that she is mixed. They see this beautiful little girl who so loves Jesus, wonderful childlike hysterical laughter that just makes you want to start laughing too.

My 8 month old son also commands similar attention from others. People want to kiss him, hold him, squeeze him...and he just gives these big smiles and laughs so much. He is such a ticklish little guy.

We also try to teach our children that it's not in how we look on the outside that God cares about, but it's who we are as people...our heart, our minds, our thoughts, our actions. The beautiful thing is that EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS UNIQUE....including multiple births who are identical.

Cherish people for who they are. Yes, there are some narrow-minded people in this world who refuse to be open. It's their problem, not mine. So, I won't make their problem mine, even if they want it...and even if we should have to suffer. God never said our lives as Christians would be easy. And, my husband is the man whom I believe God intended to be my husband for life...and I believe that the children we have are a gift from Him.

Blessings to You All,
Doris

I'm not that well versed in genetics, but as I recall, dark skin is a dominant trait and light skin is recessive. So you wouldn't have a child who is darker than either of his parents, although I suppose it's possible to have one who is lighter.

I'm open to correction here, so if there's someone who is knowledgeable about this subject, and I'm wrong, I would welcome your explanation.

PS--Doris, your last post is so beautiful!

Actually my children are very light in comparrison to my husband(he's of Hispanice decent) they take more after me. Except they tan in the summer.:) My SIL has children that are both dark and light. So it just depends on the gene I guess( My best medical reasoning:D ) Think it just depends on what God wants. Kinda like your eyes ears etc..........
My children have suffered no ill effects from being culturally/ethnically mixed(I hate the word race like someone else said we are all one race)Children only know what they are taught.

See, this is my point. It does happen, and it has happened. Now because people don't understand it, they will judge, which is wrong, I agree, but the baby will have a harder time. Is it worth it? I honestly don't know. This would be my only concern.

And it happened to our friends. And honestly, their children are great looking kids, but some of the comments are pretty weird.
