Hi

As I understand it, intelligent design is a philosophical proposition not a scientific theory. As such it is supported by logical and theological reasoning, not empirical evidence.

Whilst intelligent design is not widely accepted there are some supporting arguments for it so I would not say it is "only" theorised.

Intelligent design, or evolution, has more to do with the way we have organized our thinking than anything else.

If something is not proven, then it is a Theory, if it is hidden in such a way that proof must be by faith, then it is design with a purpose, and cannot be seen without permission.

Science isn't in the business of proving anything. Science deals with evidence. A theory in science is an explanation of facts. It is the highest any idea in science can hope to achieve. Intelligent Design makes no predictions about the natural world. It starts at a conclusion and works backwards. It is not science and that is why it loses every single time in court.

Anything that can be attained by science is not eternal, and therefore renders science ultimately useless.
Science is about describing and explaining the real world; its results can be, and have been, used to prevent a lot of suffering and to save and improve a lot of lives. If you consider that 'ultimately useless', I'd suggest the problem is with you, not with science.

Discuss please.

True it is only a theory. It's an inference to the best explanation, which isn't 100%, but it makes more sense than natural selection acting on random variations explaining the diversity of life.

It doesn't seek to prove God either, there can't be any scientific proof of something immeasurable, infinite, and immaterial. It only seeks to distinguish between intelligent and non-intelligent causes. Intelligence, or gravity for that matter, isn't something that can be put in a test tube, we can only study it's effects.

Now, the implications of the theory on the other hand ....

It is not a theory. It doesn't meet the scientific criteria for being a theory (see post #3). At best it is an hypothesis.
... but it makes more sense than natural selection acting on random variations explaining the diversity of life.
Makes more sense to who?

Now, the implications of the theory on the other hand ....
Are largely based on wishful thinking. Its originators harbored the dream of using it as a Trojan Horse for biblical creationism so they could impose it on the unwilling.

Do you find all of the things that science has provided for you each and every day of your life to be useless?

Why don't we start with posting on this forum and we can go from there.
Sure.

God saw to that.

Job 38:35 Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?

Notice how He is taking credit for electronic communications?

Be it Morse code, walki-talki, radio, or Internet, God imbued nature with the ability to send data by electricity; then He gifted us scientists to discover it and put it to use.
