• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was over on the self-esteem boards today, and someone asked about songs to help with low self-esteem. I posted a number of songs that reassure me of God's love for me and teach me not to depend on the love of others. I thought maybe I would share the songs here too, and then you all could share some songs that inspire you.

"Jesus, Lover of My Soul" - various artists
"Nobody Loves Me" by Derek Webb
"Please, Please Like Me" by Go Fish
"The Hand Song" by Go Fish
"I'm Alright" by Jars of Clay
"No One Loves me Like You" by Jars of Clay
"Say Won't You Say" by Jennifer Knapp
"Revive Me" by Jeremy Camp
"Happy" by Matthew West
"This is Your Life" by Switchfoot
"Your Love Oh Lord" by Third Day
"Cry Out to Jesus" by Third Day

i think that's enough... lol

One of my recent Favs was Matthew West's "More"

This is written from God's perspective!

Take a look at the mountain
Stretching a mile high
Take a look at the ocean
Far as your eye can see
And think of me

Take a look at the desert
Do you feel like a grain of sand?
I am with you wherever
Where you go is where I am

And Im always thinking of you
Take a look around you
Im spelling it out one by one

Chorus:

I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow Ill say it again and again
I love you more

Just a face in the city
Just a tear on a crowded street
But you are one in a million
And you belong to me

And I want you to know
Im not letting go
Even when you come undone

Chorus:

I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow Ill say it again and again
I love you more

Bridge:

Shine for me
Shine for me
Shine on, shine on
Shine for me

Chorus:

I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow Ill say it again and again
I love you more

Yes sure it may well be worth it. I wrote the songs down but didn't point out that I go through sometimes radical mood changes. Take P.O.D., Horsepower and Jumping in the house of God for example, they serve me well when I'm high. Energy in the music and the power of love in the words.
Then I have Bill Drake, Don Francisco and in particular Sons of Korah ( 90% of their songs are psalms or texts out of the Bible put to beautiful music), for when I'm down and out. They are easier listening much quieter music and powerful truthful words.

All I once held dear
Built my life upon
All the world reveres
And wars to own
All I once thought gain
Spent and worthless now
Compared to this...

Chorus:
Knowing You, Jesus
Knowing You
There is no greater thing
Your my all
Your the best
Your my joy, my righteousness
And I love you Lord

Now my heart's desire
Is to know you Lord
To be found in You
And known as Yours
To possess by faith
What I could not earn
All-surpassing gift
Of righteousness

Repeat Chorus

Oh, to know the power
Of Your risen life
And to know You in
Your sufferings
To become like You
In your death, my Lord
So with You to live
And never die

Repeat Chorus

Repeat 3x
And I love you Lord

The music is so wonderful and I am transported into His presence every time I listen to this song. It makes me weep with joy at times.

There is another song on this album I will share at another time.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
[originally When my eye-strings break in death]
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.

There's Hope

by Alabaster Box

album: Love On The Radio (2004)

Days Almost Gone
The Shadows Grow Long
I Sit Back And Wait
For Tomorrow To Come
To Bring Me A Change
To Start Again

I Picked Up The Phone
Found Out I’d Been Wrong
On Running The Race All Alone
About Taking The Reins
And Going My Way

And Where Would I Be?
I Cannot See
But With You There’s Hope
And What Could I Do?
But Hold Onto You
Cause With You There’s Hope

And I Realize
I’m A Thorn In My Side
Can You Come And Swallow My Pride?
And Lend Me A Hand
Till I UnderstandAnd

Where Would I Be?
I Cannot See
But With You There’s Hope
And What Could I Do?
But Hold Onto You
Cause With You There’s Hope

I Fall On My Face
I’ll Learn From Mistakes
But You Love Me
All The Same
It’s Called Your Grace
Your LoveAnd Your Mercy

Yeah And Where Would I Be?
I Cannot See
But With You There’s Hope
And What Could I Do?
But Hold Onto You
Cause With You There’s Hope

And Where Would I Be?
I Cannot See
But With You There’s Hope
And What Could I Do?
But Hold Onto You
Cause With You
There’s Hope

With You
There’s Hope

I have finally found the perfect song for me:

Shiny happy people laughing
Meet me in the crowd
People people
Throw your love around
Love me love me
Take it into town
Happy happy
Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Everyone around love them, love them
Put it in your hands
Take it take it
There's no time to cry
Happy happy
Put it in your heart
Where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

(if you know me you know this is a huge joke)

This one has saved my life a number of times lifting me up from some very dark moments.

God Almighty

Overwhelmed with sorrow, broken
By the pain
I could hear the doubt, falling like rain
This time it is over, this time you won't win
While the voice of doubt was calling
I barely heard the truth within...

I am watching,watching over you
I am for you, and I will lead you on.

Loneliness would cry out, keeping my
heart bound
I would ache inside, to hear heaven's sound
Just the smallest whisper, just a word or two
Could let me know, there's nothing my God
Can't do

God Almighty, God Almighty-- God Almighty
Raised me from the dead.

Wounded but not shattered, I was battered
but not lost
Your holy hands were there to guide
Breaking the chains deep inside
Through it all I've learned to see just what
You've done for me
You've given me faith to live again...

God Almighty, God Almighty--God Almighty
Raised me from, yes He raised me from,
He raised me from the dead.

A hymn that a dear friend just sent me to encourage and comfort me. Good to have a friend who is thinking of you.

Not sure of the title...

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea,
A great High Priest whose name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
One with himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased with his blood
I know that by His grace I stand
With Christ my Saviour and my God.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look, and see Him there,
Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Saviour died,
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God, the Just, is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

:amen:

EARLY IN THE MORNING (Once in a Lifetime, Odyssey)
Words by David Meece & Michael Hudson
Music by David Meece
Copyright 1993 Meece Music (admin)WORD Music & Ariose Music
Once a good young King came by
Early in the morning
Hope soared nearly to the sky
Early in the morning
Yet that first hope nearly died
With so little warning
The good young King was crucified
Early in the morning

In the stone cold tomb He lay
Early in the morning
Laid with Him the hope of day
Early in the morning
Saints and angels fearful, pray
Yearning for a dawning
Breaking on the silent grave
Early in the morning

Alleluia
O the bright dawn breaks
Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia
O the sweet King wakes
Alleluia, alleluia

Long the anxious claws had gripped
Early in the morning
Now vanquished claws have slipped
Early in the morning
How the bragging dragon trips
Head, so high, now fawning
Mouth, denied, forever drips
Early in the morning

Alleluia
Empty claws proclaim
Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia
Now the good King reigns
Alleluia, alleluia

Steady in the waning night
Early in the morning
Risen Morning Star our light
Early in the morning
Dragons breed again to fight
Fearful is their taunting
Yet, we trust, Lord, thy great might
Early in the morning

Alleluia
Saints and angels sing
Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia
Praise the risen King
Alleluia, alleluia
