Social services remove young children from grandparents and arrange adoption by gay couple​

The five-year-old boy and his four-year-old sister were being looked after by their grandparents because their mother, a recovering drug addict, was not considered capable.

But social workers stepped in after allegedly deciding that the couple, who are aged 59 and 46, were "too old" to look after the children.

They were allegedly stripped of their carer's rights and informed they would be barred from seeing the children altogether unless they agreed to the same-sex adoption. . . .

Even if the adopting couple were straight, this would be an outrage. Isn't this ageism? How is 46 too old? Why do they think strangers would be better off raising these children than their grandparents?

Something is missing from that story because I have seen MANY couples Much older be able to foster and even adopt children, Especially ones from their own family. I'm going to bet that the grandparents did something very wrong (like just let their drug-addicted daughter who is still using drugs just have the kids back) and, in their efforts to defend themselves, are trying to deflect attention off of themselves and focus on the people who got the kids...who happen to be gay.

This story is HogWash!!

-I know this because it is STILL V-E-R-Y difficult for same-sex couples to adopt children.

That's completely bizarre! My grandparents raised me and my cousin and they kept up with us fine.
