I found a wild bird yesterday with a bad wing. I decided I would take it home and try and let it heal before releasing it into the wild to give it more of a chance but now I have come to the conclusion that it will be better to let nature take it's course. The main reason for this is the research I have done indicated an exteremly low success rate for the care of injured birds by non professional bodies. Even then the care of small wild birds is rarely successful. I have decide I will bring it back to the area I found it tomorrow morning and let it hop away. I feel bad I can't do anything but would feel even worse if it died in my care.

Has anyone else been in this sort of situation and had success?

Do you know what kind of bird it is? Sounds like you have a small one. My sil works at a power plant and they had a hawk get injured there and I guess they called the game warden and he knew of a rescue place and they came and picked up the bird to nurse it back to health. I applaude your efforts in doing what you can.
