  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My parents are starting to recieve inheritance and I was wondering if they should tithe it? My dad hates tithing so if you have any hard evidence that they should tithe this, please let me know that too.

No. They should directly distribute it and all their other possessions to the poor. Then they should live a simple life spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrating the light of God through charitable endeavors and poverty.

They are in a lot of debt ... Does God say anything about this in the bible?

Can't think of anything directly, offhand...
But I would have thought that paying off debt would be a good thing. It leaves you with more money to give away in the long run, and reduces the chance of things going seriously wrong if cash-flow stops. Nothing wrong with that! It is good to make sure you are financially secure from debt, as otherwise you may be forced to break promises or depend on others who cannot easily spare it.

I became a committed Christian after the death of my husband. I did give a lot to the church the next year, but not a tithe. After my father died, I did tithe. The estate still is being closed and with every check I get, my church gets at least 10%. Just a matter of how you view life, I guess. I am definitely a cheerful giver, I guess! :D

#2 ,
are you serious ?

reality check : Parents in debt don't give money away especially when they have children .

You know some people do need money to make money if it comes from an family investment , there is not much that you need to get started and I wouldn't donate that money to charity either but I would rather travel , visit and help the poor myself instead of giving it to charity this way I have real sense of feeling of what it means to be good than throwing some money in a charity bin ..
