I am writing a fictional book and I would like some more information on the Nephilim. (i.e. the half human-half angel in the story of Noah) any links or book recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also some extra biblical references to angels and or demons would be helpful too.

Thanks.

Lewis,

First of all, the Nephilims were not half angel half humans as some believe them to be. Simply because angels were not created with reproductive capabilities as humans are. Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:30 that angels do not engage in sexual activities, at least not the ones in heaven anyway. This does not mean however that evil angels on earth could have used the bodies of ungodly men, by demonic possession, to achieve their evil purpose of producing an evil generation of people as Genesis 6:12 tells us.

There are more reasonable suggestions as to who the Nephilims of Noahs time were as H.C. Leupold a Bible scholar believes that the sons of God were descendants of Seth, the godly line described in Genesis 4:25-5:32. Leupold states: "But who were these 'sons of God'? Without a shadow of a doubt, the Sethites." H.C. Leupold, Exposition of Genesis, Vol. 1 (Ann Arbor, MI: Wartburg Press, 1942), p. 250.

I believe the more logical conclusion to the identity of the Nephilim was that they were the result of the interbreeding of the descendants of Seth who became wayward and married the daughters of men without regards to their earthly ways or concern for godliness and the nephilim were their offspring.

More interestingly to note is that the word nephilim is only used here and in Numbers 13:33, where in the book of Numbers it clearly refers to the descendants of Anak, who were giant humans, but they were humans nonetheless.

Sorry, don't know of any extra biblical references to angels or demons that does not depart from the word of God.

Hey! There are some great books out there about angels and demons, and a lot of commentaries about the Nephilim. God get them and do your research. Don't depend on others to do your research, because you may get flawed info or info with an agenda or you may not get what you are looking for. People's opinions on forum websites aren't really going to help you write a good book. Do the research. You will be the richer for it.

I am not asking for others to do the research for me, just to point out any books or material that I may have not come across so my research base can be larger than it is currently.

If you know of any good books on the mythic nature of the Nephilim or Angels/Demons all I ask is the title or a link so I can find them and read up on them myself.

Crusadar, this is to be a work of fiction, not a Biblical commentary or based in any part of reality. I am looking more for some of the interesting mythos that has arisen around the Nephilim and Angels/Demons.

Think more along the lines of a science fiction or fantasy story.
